Great for those with adult dogs and puppies
The latest addition to my family would not eat her puppy food. She wanted whatever her 8 year old brother was having and would steal the food from his bowl. Our vet recommended us mixing dry food with wet food for all life stages and that's how we found the Canidae brand. I like the variety of flavors, as my picky eaters get bored of one flavor so I have to switch things up often. Now I don't need to worry about them eating out of each other's bowls since they eat the same food!

Suspecting change in formula, but still good product
I've been purchasing this product, as well as the grain free salmon for a few years now by the case. I have 6 special-needs' rescued Greyhounds and although they all require a different 'diet' because of their problems, I keep this on hand in these two grain free 'flavors' as an occasional 'add in' to the fresh-food diets I prepare for them on a daily basis. I have relied on this to get me through their 'picky-eater' times, their 'on-medications-that-taste/smell-funny-and-I-don't-wanna-eat-Mom" times, their upset tummy times, their 'post-surgery-feeling-icky" times as well as when I don't plan right or run out of something. This grain free product comes in very handy and I like that it is pretty close to 'natural' ingredients. Frankly, there is another brand I would prefer but I simply cannot afford it.I've been more than happy with this product because it is grain free. I cook fresh, whole grains for my 'kids' in their daily diets so to find grain free canned food to keep on hand for 'in a pinch', I like this. ok, so I loved it until the last 6 cases I had delivered. For years, this canned product was almost solid in the can. I needed a spoon to dig it out and I loved the way I had to actually mash it into the rest of their food. The last 6 cases (both flavors: 3 of the salmon and 3 of the ALS) seem to have a change in the recipe. I open the can and can literally POUR it into their bowls. There might be one larger blob of 'food', but for the most part, it is like a healthy soup. I purposely do not purchase the other Canidae canned foods that contain broth because I can make them all kinds of much healthier 'broth' on my own. I don't know if these last 6 cases are this way because they sat in a warehouse for a long time and the food actually broke down or what. To those in the 'know' that may sound dumb but I have no idea why this product would change so drastically and I have to admit I'm disappointed greatly. While this is something I can afford, my disappointment is now to the level where I'm back to considering the more expensive product I wanted all along. I'll just buy less of it, less frequently. Too bad. I really liked this one for quite a while, as did my 'kids'.Edit: 10-31-12 The past few weeks this product has skyrocketed in price. Since my first purchase years ago, a case of 12 was less than $20 Prime. Now it is over $30 for the same thing, plus shipping. I'm outta here for good.

Our Havanese dogs love it
We have 3 dogs. 1 of them has Bad allergies and this product is one of the few on the market that DOESNT have what she is allergic to.She has bad reactions to Poultry, Eggs, Dairy, and highest reaction to Flaxseed, which has been added to so much pet food now.1. They love the flavor, I was worried because they were eating Lamb for so long2. Each can so far has had a nice texture3. The smell doesnt bother me, but it is fishy.Happy to have as an option to give medication, and the others just love it.

SPOILED or MISLABELED - Do Not Buy!
DO NOT FEED THIS TO YOUR DOG! There's something horribly wrong with it! I'd previously bought the same salmon/sweet potato Canidae food at my local pet store, trying to find a salmon based food for my dog who has food sensitivities. We had nine cans of it, and my dog liked it and was doing well on it. When we were getting low on it, I ordered more from Amazon. The first can I opened from the new case did not look the same as what we bought locally, didn't smell the same, and had a different texture. I checked the expiration date, and the food was not expired. At that point I incorrectly assumed that Canidae had reformulated their recipe, and I fed some of the new food to my dog. Unfortunately she became ill and vomited several times throughout the day. This food has either gone bad, or they've put the wrong product in the cans. I don't know if it's spoiled, or perhaps if it's a different flavor, but either way, Canidae's quality control is very poor. After my dog vomited the first time, I came back to the Amazon website to see if other's had a problem with this food, and saw other reviews stating that their order of dog food also looked and smelled different. Please read all the reviews to understand that my problem with this food is not unique. There's definitely something wrong with this and it should not be fed to your pet!I called Canidae to report the problem and request a refund. Based on the barrage of questions they asked me, it seemed that they wanted to blame me for letting my dog eat something else (she hadn't eaten anything else), and deny that there was a problem with their food. I let them know that there were similar reviews here on Amazon, and that they should be aware of a serious, perhaps life threatening problem with their food. As for my refund request, they denied it and offered me a coupon to buy more food. I had to escalate my request to a manager who also could not provide me with a refund. I gave Canidae a try, but this problem is just too severe for me to trust them with the health of my dog again. I will never buy Canidae again, and a coupon is worthless to me. Fortunately, Amazon made an exception to their policy of not accepting returns on dog food, and refunded my money. Even more importantly, my dog seems to be feeling a bit better today. Please don't buy this food for your dog. It should be recalled, but probably won't be. It's not fit for consumption!

This is how it's supposed to be
I was buying canned dog food on Chewy and was getting a dozen severely dented cans Every. Single. Time. I finally started ordering through Amazon, and that has all changed. I am happy to not have to send orders back or hassle with dented cans. Canidae is good quality food, which was suggested to my 20 years ago by the breeder of my first dog. Now that dog has passed on at the age of almost 15, but I have two other dogs (same breed) who benefit from the original advice of that breeder. Canidae is the only food I give to my dogs.
