Is the twist/surprise at the end a one-shot, or could someone else solve the puzzle again and get the same experience?

Not to worry, this is a puzzle is one that you can do over and over again!

Are the illustrations appropriate for younger kids? We want to get this for a puzzle loving 7 year old to do with her family.

Essentially yes! There are a few references that kids won't get, but it's designed to be suitable for all ages. Think of it like a Pixar movie; subtle references for the adults, but suitable for everyone to enjoy.
