Does the hook this comes with work well, keep it up?

It doesn't come with a hook, it comes with a string for hanging

How do you keep the hanging string from sliding down the bar? Hot glue didn't even work for me.

I tied the hanging string further in on the bar which allowed me to hang it without the string sliding.
