Great for mid frequencies
These are very high quality. Yes, the power adapters are a bummer. Had to build a little shelf just for those. The obvious use is mixing vocal levels but I also find them very useful for hearing bass instruments at the top of their boom range (200-250Hz). I tend to dip those since I hear the low stuff on full range sources. But using these, I have found the sweet spot for the upper boom.

Product's quality is terrible
As I have read many mixed reviews from different users, most said it was good in terms of sound quality, some said it was bad due to ground noise. Here are my thoughts about this product.1) I have to agree with people who said about Avantone Active MixCube's ground noise. It is so horrible and very annoying. The constant ground noise was so loud that it interrupted my flow of creativity when working on a film music project.2) The power button of one cube was so hard to press on/off. I have to use two hands with thumbs to push it down really hard, on/off. I wondered why the tester or the people who assemble this did not notice or bother to change.3) The volume knob has about 20 distinctive steps-dialing, from minimum to the maximum level) as I counted. In order for me to get to the right amplitude for critical listening working conditions, I have to dial the knobs all the way up to 3 o'clock (or about 15 dialing steps) or sometimes to the maximum. I would say this Avatones Mixcube is not worthy of investment.I was so busy with my deadline film project that I have little to go return the products, so now I am stuck with the cubes. Before you buy this product, consider finding a music store to listen to and work with it before ordering online.

"Small speaker" reference with a lot of accessories...
Not quite Auratones but, they fill that niche. Now this next bit is just my own personal expectation... The power supplies are huge and WAAAAYYY over built for these little speakers making them a chore to actually use in the Broadcast Truck envirnoment for which I had purchased them. Also the interconnect cable between the Power supply and the speaker could at least be longer so as to be able to put those damn bricks down on the floor and out of the way... Now Genelecs are not my favorites but at least it is 1 XLR input and 1 IEC/ Edison cable to make them work. Done with my whining.

Just what I needed
I did a lot of research on these monitors before purchasing, and they do exactly what I need.I use them as a secondary pair of monitors for references, and they do a great job of letting me know how my mixes are translating. They're built like bricks and come paired with power supplies that are half as big as the monitors themselves.Definitely worth the money and an excellent addition to any mixing engineers tool bag.

Midranger Doctor
I bought a pair of this. I am not happy with the sound, but soooo happy with the result of my mix. They translate so well when I play my mix on Mackie MK2 and other speakers. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.

Only a good design.
I cannot hear the basses. No controllers. Only a good design.

Excellent surgical mixing tool.
These are midrange microscopes and will provide a detailed picture of the portion of the audio spectrum that can make or break a mix. Improvements to mixes in progress were obvious immediately.

Best confidence monitors out there!
Fantastic reference monitors. They translate extremely well to other systems and most mix stages. A must-have for audio post professionals!!!
