high-quality product with clear instructions, just takes a bit of work to install
I saw a lot of positive reviews of this steering wheel cover and I thought maybe people rated it highly because of the relatively low price--that you get a lot for your money. What I found was that in fact the quality is high, period. I am very impressed by the look, feel, and manufacturing of the leather. The holes punched along the edges to sew through are precise and the stitching that joins the two ends together to form a loop is clean and strong. I selected size M for the wheel of my 2015 Subaru Forester Premium, based on the sizing information from the Wheelskins site. It fits well, though it was VERY tight to get it stretched around the rim of the steering wheel. I really wasn't sure it was going to fit at first, but once I got it on the tight fit makes it look closer to factory and feel great. I was optimistic about how long it would take to install, and it ended up taking a little over 2.5 hours. I used a loop stitch and it worked well, though it was difficult to pull each stitch tight and keep enough tension on the thread as I did the next stitch. You have to pull very hard on the thread to get the inside edges to meet, and I wish I had gotten mine just a little tighter. It comes with clear instructions, two needles, and enough thread with each to do the whole wheel using a loop stitch. The thread is strong and smooth. It doesn't cut into your fingers too badly and it did not break on me. The leather did not tear or deform as I pulled the stitches tight, either. I really like the end result. The wheel feels amazingly better than before (no leather on the original wheel). This cover gives a slight padding without being squishy, and it feels great. I worked hard to avoid gapping around the spokes, and in the end gapping was minimal, though that an expected issue with a cover like this that is not cut out to fit exactly on one particular model of car. I had a Wheelskins cover on my last car, which I installed and used, took off, and then installed again. As I recall the leather on that was slightly thicker and the seams bulkier. YMMV, but if anything I like this one a little better. That had plastic reinforcement strips along the rows of holes for the thread and this one does not, but I had no trouble with tearing or stretched holes on this one. If you are realistic about how much time and effort is needed for installation and the kinds of results you can expect, I don't think you will find a better quality wheel cover of this type. I am very impressed.

Excellent quality and an exceptional value
I simply cannot believe this genuine leather steering wheel cover cost me less than $11. The quality is perfect - no flaws in the leather, perfectly sized, the needles are quality and the thread is ample. I chose black, size M, for a 2005 Honda CR-V and the fit is perfect. Although the paint on steering wheel is trash, this leather cover looks great and perfectly masks the worn plastic wheel grip. It looks and feels so good, I would recommend installing it on a brand new steering wheel - you'd be protecting the original leather without compromising the look. Take your time on the installation to make sure that you don't skip the wrong number of holes at the spokes. Pull tight, but not too tight, while threading and take your time to make the dummy stitches in front of the spokes. It's a 90 minute job for most people but the end result is completely worth it!

Pretty nice wheel cover
This is a pretty neat DIY steering wheel cover. I'm not sure you can beat the price. It does take some time to install. The 90 minutes described in the instructions is pretty accurate. A few tips: Before you buy: get up, go outside, and actually measure your steering wheel. I have a 2016 Subaru Forester and it required a "M". I can tell from some other reviewer's complaints that they bought the wrong size. Just go measure it. To install: I used a pair of cloth garden gloves with the rubber palms while I sewed this. They allowed enough dexterity and protected my hands not only from the needle but the thread when I pulled it TIGHT. Follow the instructions. It says pull it tight, so pull it tight. If you ordered the right size, you will see it come together nicely and close the gap without damage. The instructions were very helpful and easy to understand. Now something that wasn't in the instructions that I did, and it made a big difference. This may take you an extra 30 minutes, but it's worth it. Where you have to skip the spokes of your wheel you do "dummy" stitches. Since these aren't attached to anything your wheel cover may gap a little at these spots. When you have completed the installation per instructions, take some leftover thread, maybe about 12 inches or so per spoke and thread it behind the dummy stitches (on the inside, the part that's on the wheel). Then wrap each end behind the wheel to the backside and whip a few stitches through the holes. Then pull each end tightly and you will see the little gap cinch up a little bit so that it lays flat. Tie the ends up TIGHT and voila! a much neater appearance. Still not custom, but not bad for eleven bucks. Enjoy!

Perfect Fit
I bought this cover for my 2000 Silverado a few years ago. I traded up to a 2015 Silverado and could not wait to order another one for my new truck. Very good quality stitching, 2 sewing needles and ample string to stitch it in place. Perfect fit for my Chevy, nice and snug, feels great in my hands, and looks great too. Nice quality leather cover at a great price, and easy to install. I had to practice my stitching around the first spoke, but I think if turned out very professional looking. You will not be disappointed with this cover. One picture is the 2000 truck (smaller spokes) and the other is my 2015.

Quality product at a great price!
Installed the cover on a 2012 Mustang GT that has the basic steering wheel (not leather). The instructions were clear (and in proper English), the materials (leather, string and needle) were all excellent quality. Per another review, I used a small hook (in my case, a spring hook tool) to pull the stitches tight after 6 to 7 stitches and a clamp (long jaw vice grips with rubber hose over the jaws) to hold the stitching after it had been pulled tight before moving on to the next 6 to 7 stitches. I did the "dummy" stitches around the spokes on the wheel tightening them enough so they tucked under themselves slightly and it looks cool as heck. The fitment was spot on, probably because I used a flexible fabric tape measure to get precise dimensions, especially for the rim circumference. I did NOT find it necessary to wax the tread or to widen the pre-punched holes as per some of the other reviews. If you have soft hands, you may want to use a thimble to push the needle through but I didn't find it necessary. Total time was about 75 minutes to complete, including a 10 minute break for my eyes. Just take your time and pay attention and you'll get a better result than you thought you could. Other hints: 1) always stitch at the bottom of the wheel, turning the wheel as you progress to continue stitching from the bottom (much easier to see what you're doing) 2) start your stitching at the top of the wheel (with the wheel turned 180 degrees so it's at the bottom per hint 1) and progress around clockwise if you're right handed or counter clockwise if you're left handed.

Not an easy install but worth it.
Pleased with the finished product but, as others say, it was a chore. My steering wheel is 14.9" diameter with a 3.5" rim circumference, so I ordered the M- size. I hurt my hands getting this size cover on the wheel, and, after finally succeeding, found I couldn't close the gap, no matter how hard I pulled. So I returned the M- and bought an M. This was much easier to get on the wheel and gave me maybe 1/16" overlap instead of a gap. It was pretty easy to tuck the rear under the front while lacing. Much better than a gap to me. The instructions say to push the needle up a rear hole, down the opposite front hole, then up the next rear hole. This makes the visible lacing perpendicular to the wheel, with the diagonals hidden under the cover. I reversed this, so the visible lacing is diagonal. (This did a better job of compressing the overlap. I also think it looks better.) I also didn't like the looks of the false wraps above the spokes so I ran the lacing behind the spokes under the cover. The holes in the cover are visible there, but they're pretty small, since they never had a needle poked through them. Knocking off 2 stars due to the trouble with the M- size. My recommendation is, if your wheel is close to the maximum for a given size, buy the next size up.

Great genuine material for the steering wheel. Luxurious.
Great material. Genuine. Very thick. PLease make sure you measure your steering wheel. Dont get it too small. I have a toyota corolla 2015 and i think m+ might have been better, but I got a M which was an exact fit except like half an inch around the thumb bumps. I had to use a lot of force for the whole steering wheel but the bumps were impossible. However, in regards to everything else beside sizing, this thing is PERFECT. Quality is amazing. It is so cheap but great, excellent quality. I would get one for every vehicle I own in the future. This is my go to from now one and I'm going to let everyone know where to get it. Also please use gloves or wrap your fingers in a protective layer like tape or something durable because when you tighten it, you can strip of your skin trying to get it to fit exactly right. Please be careful. This item is the right one but you have to be prepared. Have patience, this can be anywhere from 1.5 hours to 4 hours depending on your skill and patience and just being careful to do it right the first time. You get a lot of thread. You dont have to use double thread for every hole. You can use single threading stitching. It's really strong.

a bit loose in places, but good leather
SIze M, black leather, 2001 VW Eurovan. Have had this on the wheel for a few months now and it still feels great. I would highly recommend using WAXED black thread for this instead of the supplied thread. I believe the wax would cause the thread to stay tight when you cinch down a stitch. It would make it much easier to sew this on. On my Eurovan, the cover is perfect in many places, but about 20% of it is a bit loose, and this causes the stiched area to bunch up slightly. So I will deduct a star because that really means that the width of this cover was slightly uneven. You can feel the bunched gathering in those spots and it takes quite a while to get used to it and be able to ignore it. You definitely want a cover like this to be a bit too small rather than a bit to large for this reason. I would probably go down a size next time. Leather will stretch quite a bit, but if it's too loose, it will always be too loose. I would also probably use a full cross stitch pattern rather than the baseball v-stitch like I did. I think that could minimize the bunching bumps. It took me a full 3 hrs to get this thing on. But worth it because this is far more classy than many of the cheap slip-on wheel covers out there.
