Brand Story By Philips

Review: Philips Norelco Replaced My Broken Blade ASAP - I've been using Philips Norelco products for some time now and also have another trimmer of theirs (model QG3280/41), which is still running strong after six years of use. I usually find their products to be reliable and of exceptional quality. Before purchasing the BT7215/49 model however, I read most of the reviews on here and became hesitant about acquiring it, as there were too many incidents of the tabs breaking off on either the blade or comb assembly. Still, I decided to risk it thinking those incidents were either a case of bad handling or flat-out bad luck. I even went as far as purchasing the Asurion extended warranty that desertcart offered, in addition to the warranty that already came with the unit as a safety measure. I even got a padded case to house it in whenever it wasn't being used. Fast-forward to three months of gentle handling and use, and snap—one of the tabs on the blade assembly broke off while I was brushing it of all things. At first, I didn't even bother contacting Philips Norelco about it, as I had read somewhere that they had become resistant to providing anymore replacement parts for this, as their warranty department had gotten inundated with similar complaints. I reached out to Asurion, and they informed me to first contact Philips Norelco about it. So I did—and to my surprise—they quickly took my contact and shipping info and shipped out a replacement blade and comb assembly. The rep also informed me that they were an updated version of what originally came with the unit, and that the plastic tabs were now designed to be stronger. I'm giving 5 stars here, because I feel that the original engineering for these specific parts was a case of bad luck, and that the company is now trying to correct their mistake by having improved on the design and offering a replacement for the defective parts to its customer base at no cost. If your product is still under warranty, then I encourage you to reach out to Philips Norelco so that they can get you this replacement if it's needed. As far as the device itself, I think it's great. It has a long battery life between charges, runs with the provided power supply in case your battery's running low, feels very light and ergonomic when handling it, and does a great job of trimming my facial hair. The vacuum also works pretty good, although I still get a few pieces of stubble in my sink whenever I use it. The only thing I wish could be improved would be the housing for the vacuum. I wish I didn't have to remove the blade and comb assembly whenever I wanted to empty it out, as I believe that constantly having removed them most-likely wore down the plastic tab that eventually broke off. Also, cleaning out the compartment where your hairs get vacuumed seems a bit risky. They do provide you with a soft-padded brush for this purpose, but I always feel that I need to take great care not to unintentionally damage another component within that housing, which also includes a portion of the device's motor. All-in-all, I encourage you to give this model a try, and if the tabs on either the blade or comb assembly break off, then reach out to Philips Norelco ASAP so they can mail you out a replacement.
Review: Excellent customer service - The plastic tabs failed. They OVERNIGHTED me the replacement at NO COST. It is very rare indeed these days for a company to show such care about customer satisfaction. As other reviews mention, the original contour comb had a design flaw. Over time the plastic tabs would break. Being cheap and resourceful I don't generally replace what I can fix. I clipped a couple pieces of spring and affixed them into the tabs by heating them up and melting them into place, then sealing them in with epoxy. This worked for several years. But eventually this failed. I called the parts number in the owners manual (yes, I saved that) to make sure I was getting the correct part. I spoke with a real human being, not some purgatorial automaton, who was here in the United States. After getting my name and address and the serial number of the part she informed we that we were all set and to expect an envelope by 8am the following morning. A little confused, I asked her to clarify. Yes, as we were speaking she had put in an order through parts and it would be FedEx-ed overnight. That was it. 16 hours later I had a redesigned, reinforced replacement part. Years later and no issues. It's been nearly six years since I purchased this trimmer. I don't drop the thing or beat it up, but it hasn't had a coddled life either. I liked it when I got, I still like it. Countless trips, including several months at a time here and overseas, and it still works just fine. Does the vacuum capture every hair? It's a handheld trimmer, would you really expect it to? It does suck up most though, surprisingly well. Direction and angle matter, but for me it captures most trimmed hairs, well over 90% I'd say. I certainly hope this continues to hold up as well as it has because I really don't want to ever have to get another trimmer. Nearly every product I've ever encountered could be improved in some way. But there isn't anything about this trimmer that I would change. It does everything I need it to and I find it wants for nothing. And I appreciate a company that I believe appreciates me.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How can you replace the main trimmer piece if it brakes?**
A: FYI - as of right now (11/7/18) I was just told the trimmer is not covered under warranty. They are replacing it as a one time courtesy. The blade is covered for 24 months, but I guess the part attached to it that are not replaceable separate are not. I didn't argue past that point but I bet they got tired of replacing a poor design.

**Q: I'm looking into this above others because of the vacuum. Can anyone vouch for how well does it works and how easy it is to use?**
A: I have had an older version of this product since 2010. The battery has now died but the vacuum worked — and worked very well — right up to the end. I won't consider replacements without a vacuum next time around.

**Q: Will this work while plugged in?**
A: Yes , the the 7200 works while plugged in.

**Q: does it work on 220 Voltage?**
A: Yes it does work on 220 voltage

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 7200
*by C***Y on May 3, 2016*

received this Philips Norelco beard trimmer 7200 for free to test out and review, and that’s exactly what I did. And perfect timing too, as I was in the market for a new one. I should also start out by saying I’ve got about a 4 inch beard, so I’m always shaving my neck, cleaning my cheeks up and blending the sides of my beard to blend with my hair. Right out of the box you’ll notice this isn’t a small trimmer. It’s actually quite large. My last trimmer was a Philips Norelco G370 and was quite small in size. The first time I used it was strange since I wasn’t use to having such a large trimmer. After the second and third time using it I no longer noticed it. We’ll start with what it does well. Trim. My last trimmer did an alright job of cutting the stubble down. Usually there was quite a bit left over and I would have to go over it all again with a razor. This one was different. After the first time using it I noticed how close it shaved. No sharp neck hair to grab on to your shirt. No itchy hairs left behind. It does a really good job of doing what it is supposed to do. My favorite feature on this model would probably be the built in vacuum. It is by no means perfect, but it does manage to pull in most of the hair and until you finish and discard it. I wouldn’t say 90%, but it was a significant amount. It does save some time cleaning up after because we all know that normal shavers throw stubble all over. My last trimmer didn’t have this so we’ll call it a plus. My biggest gripe about the product right now also has to do with this feature. There is no “trap door” per se, to clean out the holding area. The only way to do so is to take the trimmer head off and use the provided brush to dig it out. This takes time, guys aren’t going to want to sit around and clean their trimmers so I see this being an issue for some – not all. The trimmer head is also held on by two plastic posts. I could see a lot of these breaking due to being taken off and put back on many times. I’m not sure what the replacement cost on those is. The trimmer size adjustment is another neat feature of this trimmer. It’s not the typical slide like most, it’s actually a roller. When you start rolling it, a digital number pops up and shows you what size you’re currently at. Doesn’t matter if your hands are wet, the rubber covered wheel turns easily. My other dislike about this product was how loud it was during operation. Now for most, this won’t be an issue. But since my bathroom is a few feet from my sleeping wife, she isn’t too happy when I fire this up in the morning. Not really a problem, just started shaving at night. It’s quite loud – and it’s not the product itself. When you take the trimmer head off, it’s whisper quite. Now, I’m not too upset about this because it’s still leaps and bounds better than my last. Overall, this is a great trimmer. I would recommend this to anyone in the market for such an item. Pros: Close shave. Collects hair and stubble. Adjustable trimmer. Good battery life. Carrying case and brushes. Wet or dry shave. Cons: Large size. A bit noisey. Difficult to clean out.
