What I enjoyed the most about "Heal Your Gut with Bone Broth" was the engaging and relatable writing style. Cleanses often turn me off if I'm honest. It seems like too much, too fast, and I get worried about giving up too soon and having it all be lost. Juice cleanses often seem gimmicky to me--a ploy for weight loss but no real personal benefit. HOWEVER, this bone broth may turn the tide for me and cleanses. Westen's understanding of the fallacies of human nature and her down to earth outlook really made me feel that I had a friend on the other side of this book who was supporting me and cheering me on. I also found that the research and historical and contextual support for WHY bone broth is beneficial (and HAS BEEN so beneficial in the past) made me feel very safe in starting this. Why wait til 2016 to better your health? I started two days ago and am honestly LOVING IT.

So much more than bone broth.
Bone broth has been a part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. It is good for digestion, vitamins/minerals, and for weight management. It helps ailments such as stress, fatigue, aches, acne, gas, exhaustion and depression. They are tests on the book to treat the readers knowledge of bone broth and also how toxins, emotions and diet affect lifestyle.I like how this book assesses needs and helps the reader become aware of how lifestyle and environment affect the body. There are ideas on how to detoxify the body in order to make bone broth more useful. So addition to using bone broth to help heal, this book looks to help maintain an overall healthy lifestyle for the reader, like sleep tips and meditation.The book finishes off with recipes for bone broth preparation There are chicken, vegetable or bone broth can be found in specialty stores and online. After doing a broth detox for a week, the reader can add in more food that will help the gut like fresh fruits and veggies, kefir, lemongrass, nuts, buttermilk and dark chocolate.Author Robin Westen also includes cleaning and health and beauty recipes with all natural ingredients to help remove toxicity from daily life.

Much More Than Broth
This was an incredibly helpful book and extremely unique in a very clustered genre of diet and lifestyle type books. The broth's benefits are clearly described however I was surprised that despite the title, the book makes it clear that though bone broth has clear and proven benefits it is not a magic cure all and a healthy lifestyle is imperative for success. This book contains a cook book with many different broths as well as different information regarding nutrients and all around health. I was pleasantly surprised at how much this book covered and how well it was all presented. I think this is a great read for anyone looking to make a life change or just wanting to learn more.

I think the main point to be made about this book is that while it's labeled "Heal Your Gut With Bone Broth" this is only a theme consisted in the book. This book uses broth as a jumping point for good health, but makes points as to the importance of overall health in the body and in the environment. The author goes to great pains to talk about the various different ways the body can experience havoc and where these triggers may come from. To do this, there are several different quizzes in the book that allow/help the reader to determine the different things that may affecting his/her health. I found this book to be useful in not only a literal sense read bone broth, but provide foundations for one to analyze the various factors of one's heath and how to better it.

Informative, varied, fun writing style
What I like best about this particular bone broth manual is that Westen's writing style is so approachable-- the kind of tough love/humor combination that I always find helps inspire me to make changes in my life. On top of that, this book is very specific about the health benefits involved in bone broth, while making it clear that this change alone isn't enough to totally transform your life. It offers supplementary nutritional information, stress reduction techniques--the works! Following those sections, she's included a mini cookbook for more ambitious broth-ers, as well as advice on purchasing broth for those who may not have the time to make their own stock. The book closes with a comprehensive and detailed detox plan--awesome to kick off your health-related New Years' resolutions on the right foot.

What's old is new again.
I have always wondered what people in the days when stores were not readily available to go and get just what one needed. We are a spoiled society. We have everything at our fingertips. Just go to the local box store, mall or supermarket to get anything your heart desires. This is a great book that answered many of my questions. It has great recipes for healing your insides with homemade remedies from the past. It may take time to buy all the ingredients and make the broth, but a large quantity is made and then frozen. This is a body cleanse to get rid of all the critters in our digestive tract. It is a natural method. No chemicals are used. I am going to try this after the holidays and see if it works. I also like the recipes included in this book for homemade cleaners, body washes and deodorant. There are too many chemicals in things we eat and use every day.

My boyfriend has horrible digestion - we have tried everything. A friend of ours recommended trying bone broth. I picked up this book not knowing what to think. This book was great - it continuously asks you questions to help figure out the best meal planning and eating solutions for your body. The formatting of this book is easy to follow and very useful. I had no idea how beneficial bone broth really was for your cut and digestive system. So often I focus on working out and eating but not necessarily my gut itself. This book gives you the tools you need to be successful in using bone broth to stay healthy! It does a pretty thorough job of giving you all the needed ingredients - perfection! Couldn't ask for a better guide.
