Kensington Keyboard Tray Under Desk, SmartFit Ergonomic Slide-Out Keyboard Drawer with Cable Management, Extra-Wide Height Adjustable Keyboard Holder, 24.5" x 11.75", Black K60004US

The design is simple and installation is easy to customize. My “desk” is actually a table that has a storage area underneath, so I couldn’t just screw into the particle board and trust that. So I bought some bolts and wing nuts, drilled through the bottom of the table and added some wide washers for extra stability. The wing nuts will allow me to remove the tray easily if I ever need to use this as a table again. The brackets also needed to be reversed to fit the width of my table and it worked just fine. I’ve bought other trays before that were a pain to put together but this was really easy. It took about 30 minutes to install. I like that the tray doesn’t slide in and out too freely, so it doesn’t try to slide back in as I’m typing. It’s wide enough for a full keyboard and mouse. It comes with a wrist rest and some foam I assume is for a mousepad, but I just use my own mousepad. I would buy this again if I ever need a second one.

I don't usually write reviews, but this is a good product that I couldn't easily find. Other under desk mount types are very clunky and poorly made. The clamp style doesn't work for our desk set up. This is a sturdy under desk mount keyboard drawer that requires a #2 Phillips head screwdriver and either get self-tapping screws or a 1/8" drill bit to pre-drill holes using the supplied screws. It took me 30 minutes on desk 1, as needed to learn how to set the spacing. It took about 15 minutes on the second desk. If you have a screw gun and can drill a hole you can easily do this. We looked for weeks at multiple keyboards, all looked pretty bad. This Kensington model is well built, but not suitable for abuse/heavy use. We had the old Rubbermaid one similar one was discontinued; others looking similar are likely as flimsy as the old Rubbermaid model. This drawer slides even and smoothly with a soft "lock" when you push it in so it doesn't roll out. It looks good if you like black.

This product was purchased twice. First package did not come with the 4 screws that were required for the first step. They sent me a new one with no issues and it contained all of the parts. I returned the original, it has been a week and no refund yet (will update if complications arise). I have an L-Desk with a metal bar that lines the edges, this prevents the bottom of my desk to be flush. The brackets on this keyboard trays does accommodate that difference. I did have to switch out my keyboard for a more standard one to best fit the tray and still maintain an upright angle. Installation was tricky because there was no situation where I could flip my desk upside-down. I assembled the tray fully, aligned it where I needed it to my desk and used a bungee cord to hold it in place. The screws for the bracket to desk are too long, I replaced those wood screws and also pre-drilled my holes because, my desk isn't real wood. There are a lot of videos and information out there installing these styles, a little research helps to make it really customizable. All in all, it all came together well enough. Some adjusting to it is needed but it's nice to have more distance from my screen and hold a more relaxed position to type. My mouse does fit on the tray but not enough space to really do any graphic design or modeling work. The "con's" I could claim are 1- due to installation, I am not 100% on the alignment and my tracks might be a tad off causing some friction. Not end of world stuff, just a bit of resistance. At least my tray doesn't have any ability to slam into position. 2- I sit weird, so my legs are actually pressed up against the bottom of the tray. The bottom of the tray, manufacturing wise to cut down on weight and material was to hollow it out and make it waffle construction. Now I have thin edges of plastic digging into my legs. Don't be me and you'll be fine. I have also ordered a new chair due to how I sit.... 3- durability, I am uncertain how strong the plastic honestly is. There is some give, the foam bumper slips and slides around. The plastic tray does flex, I don't believe my hands/arms have enough weight to break it?

Firstly I thought of getting a clamp type tray which I later confirmed would get in the way when I move things around on the desk. At least it wasn’t for me. There was another type of product in the same price range. It had smaller width, but had a separate mouse pad base linked to it, which didn’t seem to be solid enough. I finally chose this one mostly because of the extra-wide inner drawer space (24.5”) which I knew would give me a lot more room to maneuver my keyboard and mouse within a single drawer space, thus giving me more position tolerance. At first look, I wasn’t sure if the rails and brackets were solid enough, but I trusted one of the other reviewers who said it was. The brackets and rails are solid and sturdy and it shouldn’t be a concern, unless you would mean to abuse it. I’m very satisfied with the product and I’m happy that I went with this one. Now my hands nicely hang and rest when I type or use mouse, giving no more strain to my wrists or elbows. Unless you have a desk you can flip over easily for the installation, some measuring, simulation on the optimum installation position, and actual installation under your desk could take some time. Price was right and I would select the same product if I had to do it again. BTW, wrist rest pad and mouse pad came along with the tray which was great. The mouse pad could be better, so I threw in my old mouse pad in there as well. The wrist rest pad, however, is great and no complaint.

Assembly instructions (pictures) need some work - images aren't exactly accurate in regards to number of holes and screw placement. Need 2 people or something to prop up one side while fastening screws under desk on the other side. Once installed it's secure but the "mouse pad" is pretty much a throw away item. The tray itself is hard plastic so keyboard constantly slides around. Purchase extra large thin mouse pads to help secure keyboard and also for a proper surface for your mouse.

This is a good product for the price. It's lightweight but feels stable and is very easy to install - just set the height of the shelf and secure it to the underside of your desk with 8 screws. A few things to note, though: 1) I didn't measure my keyboard and mousepad beforehand, so the shelf wasn't as wide as I expected. If you have a full-size (104- or 108-key) keyboard, you most likely will not have room for a full-size mousepad on the tray, hence the mini-mousepad provided. If you're a gamer and need a standard or oversized mousepad or gaming mat and also have a full-sized keyboard, definitely buy a wider tray. 2) The supplied mousepad is very flimsy and thin. Luckily, it's removable, and mousepads are cheap. The wrist rest is actually decent, but can also be removed or replaced. 3) The 8 screws provided are ok, but if you want a more secure hold, I'd highly recommend using wood screws to attach the tray to your desk. Depending on what your desk is made of, you may want to drill lead holes beforehand. Also, while it's possible to install this alone, it helps to have a second person hold the tray in place while you're making marks for screw holes and screwing it in.

Works fine, but the tray doesn’t pull out or push in smoothly. Installation was extremely frustrating. A template would have cut the installation time by 75% or more. I couldn’t flip my desk upside down, so having a paper template was absolutely needed. Mine ended up at a bit of an angle, but by the time it was at the point that the angle was noticeable, I was absolutely not willing to start over. It does its job, so I’m still going to give it 5 stars.

So I purchased this to get my keyboard off my home desk as, like a lot of folks, I am doing a lot more "office" work vs. Internet surfing or game playing. I did a LOT of on-line research and finally settled on this under-desk keyboard tray and, in general, I'm happy with the purchase. First, its very sturdy. I was worried about the keyboard tray wobbling as I type and it's very solid. You do have to screw it into the underside of your desk but that is what helps ensure that it's stable. I'm very happy with how stable it is. On a scale of 1 - 10, if "super bouncy" was a "1" and "solid as the desk itself" was a 10, I'd give this a 9 easy. Once it's installed, all you can really do is slide it in and out and the sliders provided seem well made and solid. No complaints there. The sliders get more resistant at each end of their range to keep the keyboard locked into the open or closed position (not a snap, per se, more like it just meets resistance). In the middle of its range, it can slide with a push. I have an 18 inch wide keyboard and it fits just fine but you only get about 6" for the mouse (about 6" by 8"). For me this is fine and I've played Doom Eternal and No Man's Sky just fine with this setup. I do a lot of work in Lightroom but haven't tried that yet. But be aware you have a smaller area for the mouse unless you get a smaller keyboard. It comes with a wrist rest and I've tried using it and not using it. My keyboard comes with a wrist rest built in so, for now, I'm not using it but I can see it would be useful on a different keyboard. The mousepad that comes with it is rubber and I didn't like it so I don't use it. I put my metal mousepad in the tray and, while it's too big to fit "next" to the keyboard, I can put the keyboard on top of the mousepad so it overlaps. It's not ideal but it works and doesn't wobble. With regard to the install, you need a helper to hold the tray up against the underside of the desk while you screw it into the desk. You will need a drill and safety glasses and be prepared to work on your back unless your desk is "new" and you can flip it over. This is awkward but, again, once it's in, it's very sturdy. As other's have mentioned, make sure when choosing the distance between the desk and tray that you account for mouse and keyboard height. But you also need to account for distance between the bottom of the tray and the top of your legs. My desk is 29" tall and I had to lower my chair (and subsequently my monitor height) to make it work. You will also end up sitting further back from your monitor (about 10 inches or so depending on where you mount it) so take that into consideration as well. I would imagine this is true for any under-desk keyboard tray. If I want to, I can just move my wireless keyboard and mouse back on my desk if there are scenarios where that makes more sense and use the tray for storage and typing. Having my desk clear is nice. I also have a support under my desk in the center that runs back to front. This product doe not attach to the desk in the center (like so many desk-mount trays are) so I was able to ensure that the tray cleared that support. Finally, I had to install it off center to my desk (over to the right a bit) in order for my keyboard to be, more or less, center with my monitor. Seems to me, in order for the tray to be in the center of the desk, it would have to be wider so that you'd have equal space (on both sides) for a mouse. Overall I'm satisfied with what I got for the price. My main concern was sturdiness and it meets that requirement.

Bought this to attach to my DIY desk which is 2 1x2 cubes with a timber top across them. The pull out keyboard tray is perfect. Gives me the space I need without my desk being crowded. Easy to install. Great value.

Lo escogí porque es el más grande que pude encontrar y tenía buenas reseñas. Tengo un teclado ergonómico que ocupa mucho espacio y un mouse vertical. El espacio en la charola fue suficiente para que cupieran mi mouse y mi teclado, aunque eso solamente a lo ancho. En cuanto a lo alto, a pesar de haber colocado la charola lo más despegado del escritorio posible (aproximadamente 8 cm) mi mouse es demasiado alto para caber debajo del escritorio, pero como la charola se mete y se saca, de todas maneras me sirve. Eso de la altura ajustable es cierto pero no se ajusta con facilidad, básicamente si se quiere cambiar la altura hay que desatornillar la charola del escritorio y volverla a colocar, lo cual no es muy práctico. No obstante, creo que fue una buena compra. Eso sí, el tapete del mouse y el reposamuñecas que vienen incluidos no son de la mejor calidad, pero en cuanto a la charola en sí es bastante maciza y puedo recargar el peso de mis brazos en la ella sin problemas, aunque por lo general también me apoyo de los reposabrazos de mi silla. En resumen, estoy satisfecha con la compra.

Kensington is a descent product and for the price it is a GREAT deal. The quality is fairly good and easy to install. Will hold up for many years to come Im sure! I am a BIG guy with BIG hands and the keyboard drawer easily holds my arm weight when slightly leaning on it when engaging with the mouse. It was also a pleasant surprise to see it came with a wrist pad and a small mouse pad included! I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a great deal for a descent keyboard/mouse drawer
