I’d wanted to try gouache paint without putting out a lot of money so took a chance on these. I was so pleasantly surprised at what arrived! This kit was way more than I expected. The colors are lush with deep opacity and a velvety matte texture. A tiny bit of paint goes a long way and colors mix beautifully. I love them. The instructions do say that once the pots are opened they will only last about six months. I am wondering if they will dry up quicker than that, but at the rate I’m using them it won’t be a problem. And they provide a plastic overlay to preserve them when closed. It does get a little messy, but creativity is messy! The package itself seals very tight, so no chance of leaking If closed properly. The act of peeling the lids, stirring in the glycerine (Tip- use popsicle stick or chopstick then use what’s left on stick to swatch your colors) is an ASMR experience. I’m a frugal artist but feel this is such a good value to get started with gouache paint and I like that it is a compact “kit” easy to pull out and get creative quickly. The set comes with 3 brushes so you can dive in to painting joy immediately.

This is my first time using gouache and I find that this set is a really good intro into using this typeof paint. It has a good variety and range of colors. I’ve been using it to complete an old paint by number that I have, as the acrylic paints that came with it have completely dried out and are now unusable. The gouache is actually easier to use, and I enjoy how the tubs make it easy to dip into the various colors. It’s like a glossy gel consistency that dries matte. The only thing is that it can’t be used to paint onto terracotta pots like acrylic, as it clumps and sticks unevenly to the terra-cotta. Some colors have a sheerness to it as well, like the dark blues or orange.

Purchased as gift: oh boy glad I did! My mom mentioned wanting to start water colors. There are so many paints to choose from, the selection is overwhelming. Well search no more. This kit comes signed sealed delivered with all your needs. Grab a couple of canvases and start painting. The cup style delivers on the ability to use and store securely. No need to purchase anything additional the case holds all the items snug. Mother shared paint glide smooth. Very little water needed to start the process. Adding more or less in the palette allows for color variance as well. She painted a nice dandelion for her first go. Give these try for yourself or a friend /loved one. You will surely be pleased.

Really nice set for a very fair price. The case is a little hard to open, but I don't mind if it keeps the gouache air tight. This is actually more colors than necessary, as I like to mix my own, but they are handy and all useful. The pink is the only shade I have a problem with. It is an odd shade and it mixes with water- sort of chalky. The other colors seem great so far! All go from opaque to very watercolor-like, as expected. I suggest reading the enclosed info and stir each cup as recommended before painting. I added a drop of glycerin to each when I did so. They still dry down very matte. Will update review if necessary.

I bought this gouache paint set on a whim because it was really inexpensive and the colors looked nice. I was actually super excited when I received it the case itself was very sturdy. The paint colors were beautiful very pigmented and thick. Also each pod was quite full which I was not expecting and very easy to work with. I would definitely purchase this set again as you get a lot for the price.

I used this product for an art class in college.I like that the product came in different compartments to separate the color and in terms of even if the packaging was left open you can deal the lid and the gouche wouldn't get dry. The product has a variety of colors to choose from so if you're looking to add more colors i think it's a good choice. In terms of price I think it is fine and not on the too expensive side. Overall it was useful for me and my class.

I mixed in glycerin as per instructions. Every once in a while have added distilled water to the cups. This past week, I again stirred in glycerin and some distilled water. I used it to paint a picture.Compared to what I've heard, this gauche set up seems to last longer. What may have made the difference is the extra layer of a clear piece of acetate that rests on top of paints.Works well as any inexpensive gouache.Will admit it is a bit big for my working space so don't use it as often as I expected.

Magic Fly gouache are a great value for any artist... Highly recommended seller and product!

Great product

I already a lot of gouache paint brands-Windsor and Newton, M.Graham, etc. however I want to see what all the fuss was a bout and the price was right so I bought a set to try when I go outside to paint. I was very pleasantly suprised!. The paints are nice and opaque, there is a ton of it, and they're easy to bring with me when I want to paint outside with my pochade paint! Well worth the money!
