Could Not Put It Down!
This story had me hooked from the very beginning. When searching for his stolen cattle, Rory finds Sadie, the girl he's been watching from afar for years, with her life literally hanging in the balance. It spurs him to grab on and protect the woman he wants for his own from a seriously dangerous situation. The first several chapters had me holding my breathe, waiting to see what would happen and as Rory and Sadie got closer and closer, and danger loomed in the shadows, I just couldn't put the book down. For a heroine dealing with so much sadness and violence, Sadie is both strong-willed and kindhearted. She remembers the sweet boy her younger brother used to be before drugs warped his mind and wants to help set him back on the right path despite his consistently making the same mistakes. She isn't hopelessly idealistic. She sees him for the junkie that he is and is well aware of all that helping him has cost her, but family is so important to her that she can't just toss him aside, or be the instrument of his downfall. One thing I really loved about Sadie is that when she sees Rory withdrawing or becoming quiet she goes right up to him, pokes him in the chest, and tells him to stop it. She's direct and loving, and makes sure they're both accountable and open about their feelings. I love that they talk about their issues and face them head on. God save us from the overused trope of needless misunderstandings caused by heroes and heroines not talking about things. If you love the silent, broody type with an honorable, kind heart and the kind of muscular frame you just want to climb, then Rory is the cowboy of your dreams. He's big, protective, family-oriented and his rare smiles completely light up his face. It also doesn't hurt that he's great with his hands and picks Sadie up like she's as light as a feather. #BookBoyfriendGoalsThis series is just so wonderful and every time I read the next book I'm reminded of how supremely satisfying Jennifer Ryan's work is. There's just so much excitement, genuine emotion and fantastic pacing that you can't put her books down. Plus, she sure knows how to turn the heat up. I love how wonderfully developed her characters are and the little world she's building with this series. I'm so excited to discover more of her Montana men and get Colt's story. I honestly can't say enough good things about STONE COLD COWBOY and the series as a whole. Just go read it! If you like suspense and sexy, protective cowboys you'll be in heaven.Disclosure: I received this book free in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.

Sweetly predictable, but worth the ride...
I liked this story of a hard working young woman with the weight of the world on her shoulders...constantly bailing her criminal, drug addicted brother out of trouble and never seeing him for what he is. I loved Sadie Higgins' character. She's kind, generous, and smart with profound strengths. She has a strong sense of honor and duty and commitment to family. She's been mother, cook, maid and general caregiver to her father and brother since the day her mother died. She's never had anyone take care of her --- so when Rory Kendrick saves her life and wants to take care of her, she shy's away...protecting or guarding herself from trusting him.Rory Kendrick is the eldest of three brothers. He takes his responsibilities as role model, parent, big brother and protector seriously. He oversee's a successful cattle ranch and cares for his g'father. He works. And he works. And that's all he does....all the time. And he's tired of being smothered under responsibility, yet he's driven to always get the job done and keep the ranch thriving and surviving. And then he meets Sadie Higgins.....This was a sweetly predictable romantic story a young woman (age anyone??) who has built up such strong enforcements of protection around herself that she's mistrustful...and of a cowboy (anyone know his age??) who is a little bit shy and hides behind a gruff, intense exterior. It has its serious and harsh moments surrounding the drug world...but the story doesn't get too involved with that. The romantic moments were tastefully written but a little too tame for me. Very sweet. Still, I enjoyed this story. Still not sure if I'll continue on with Colt's story.

Sadie and Rory's story worth reading!
Again I enjoyed another book by Jennifer Ryan. She just has a way of connecting the reader to the characters that make them real and people I would want to know. Rory is the oldest brother in his family taking care of his 2 younger brothers and the ranch since his parents were killed when he was younger. With the help of his grandfather he does this but is so serious about his responsibilities over the years that he is lonely and hasn't taken much time for himself. However, he has taken note for sometime of the pretty waitress he sees at the diner and would like to get to know her but doesn't think he has a chance. Meet Sadie, the waitress, who has lived with her father and brother Connor for sometime since her mother had died. At that time she promised her mother to watch after her brother. Over the years Sadie has spent her time keeping Connor out of trouble until he is now stealing cattle off of Rory's ranch. What follows is a story of love, trust, taking chances and more loss for Sadie. A great story of the love and support that can be there for you from family. Both Sadie and Rory are very strong characters and their story is worth reading!

Rory Kendrick tough in life and even tougher in love
Brought together in violent circumstances a love takes root and bonds grow as they work through past pains and constant dangers. Loved these characters cheering on the heroes and hoping they can overcome the obstacles thrown at them. Had to read the books in this series again and again. Can't wait to read more about my favourites

Sweet romantic thriller
The characterisation is good. The plotline is engaging but does stall a bit in places before picking up again. The circular thinking gets boring by the third time and there are parts when the female lead, Sadie, really is too stupid to live.Rory is sweet and rounded but again, much like Sadie, is totally unable to give voice to thought and emotion which subsequently makes the reading experience a bit frustrating. There are several sex scenes, some swearing and a horrific torture scene at the start of the book. There are a few errors. If you are a fan of the genre I have no problem recommending the book.
