For SERIOUS BAKERS only - love this banneton
Purchased Round/Groove banneton and it was well worth the cost! This has lived up to all the hype and none of my Sourdough loaves have stuck to the banneton --- each one has just popped right out. I've only "lightly" floured the inside and actually don't think you need to use flour and no tea towel needed. I will certainly purchase another. Easy to clean.

THIS is what you want!
I've baked bread, rolls, and pizza crust for many years. None of my recipes were that fancy, but it's all stuff that my family loved. I had never heard of a banneton until I decided to look into another French bread recipe and the recipe suggested using a banneton. Quickly, I ended up down the rabbit hole and then I started researching sourdough. I got my starter ready & started looking for accessories. I'm not skilled on working dough to the extent that some of these recipes ask for. After doing some research, I decided a wood pulp proofing basket would probably fit my skill-set better than rattan. Although you need to season a rattan basket, I still saw online posts where people still had sticking with the floured rattan baskets. I am newly retired and I'm trying to find a good balance between an affordable hobby with some cheaper items and some items of better quality. After reading reviews of the cheaper branded wood pulp baskets, it wasn't clear where the wood pulp originated and I saw reviews mentioning how thin the bowls were. Furthermore, I preferred to stay with Amazon in case I had an issue with the quality or size since I'm very new to this hobby. I decided that I should put a bit more money into my proofing bowls and I went with Bulka. I purchased 2 of the round 9" bowls. I had a couple of concerns prior to using them so I emailed Bulka directly. We went back and forth a few times. They were VERY quick to respond and detailed with their replies. Although I hadn't started using the bowls yet, I knew that I made a good choice. This week, I used my sourdough starter for the first time on 2 loaves of sourdough leavened bread. I did a quick brush out of my 2 new Bulka bowls, and then sprinkled rice flour inside, prior to adding my dough. I covered both bowls with plastic and put them in the refrigerator for about 24 hours due to being too busy to bake the loaves. The next day, I EASILY dumped both loaves onto my countertop. There was ZERO sticking. They plopped right out. Both loaves turned out very well being baked in my Dutch oven. The crust was chewy, with a bit of crisp to it. The crumb turned out very well. My husband who isn't a huge bread eater couldn't stop saying how good the bread turned out. I'm very pleased that I put out a few extra dollars for Bulka. Although I live in the desert, I did leave both bowls out to "dry" and they both came with heavy duty cardboard boxes for easy, clean storage. For those having sticking issues, my research has shown that your dough was much too wet and not ready for proofing yet. Also, those having mold issues. Wood pulp bowls CANNOT be washed or have water put into them. This is ALL wood pulp bowls, regardless of brand. It's important to research what you want ahead of time to keep your bowls working, and in good condition. A recently heated, but turned off oven can be used to dry them after use. The reason why some prefer wood pulp proofing bowls is because they pull moisture out of the dough prior to baking. And I've discovered that Bulka bowls do this very well due the great crust of my first 2 loaves! I've included several pictures. One shows the dough before putting the bowls into the refrigerator for 24 hours. The other picture shows the first loaf I pulled out of the refrigerator, 24 hours later.

It's this one. This is the one you want.
If you're looking for a banneton (bread proofing basket), this is the one you're looking for. Choose whichever shape and pattern you want, but Bulka is 100% the quality and construction of banneton you're after. All of the usual praises are in order for the exceptional packaging, shipping, all of that good stuff - but the product itself, typical for German quality, is outstanding. Proofing in it is a breeze - I have had zero sticking, cleanup is a breeze, just a light flouring and you're off to the races. It's beautiful, it's quality, it's sustainable, it's German, and it proofs an exquisite loaf at a reasonable price for the quality. Stop looking and researching (I do so obsessively). This is your final stop. Click the buy button and spend more time enjoying a beautifully simple and fulfilling way to make your own food. Thank you Bulka for making something excellent in a world full of garbage.

Works like magic!
Are you new to Sourdough?? Me too! It was my first sourdough recipe and my first banneton. My dough was sticky but I followed the Bulka instructions to brush the basket off and then flour. I used organic AP as with the whole arsenic rice thing - rice flour wasn't my thing. I worked in the flour to make sure every spot was hit and then gave it a good tapping in the sink for the excess. No liner needed!! When ready to dump it on parchment, it came out easily without any stickiness. It was like MAGIC! I will buy other sizes in the future.

The Best I have found
I bought the Bulka Banneton Bread Proofing Basket Spruce Wood Pulp Round 9" Groove with doubts and figuring I could return it if it didn't meet my expectations. This banneton is the last brand/type of banneton that I will ever purchase! It not only met EVERY expectation I had but exceeded them. I make several loaves of sourdough bread a week and have fought with different proofing baskets to release the dough that either stuck to the bottom, sides, or both. With the Bulka - I sprinkle a bit of rice flour onto the bottom of the basket and the sides of the dough, and you will have ZERO sticking - the dough turns out easily. You'll have flawlessly stunning loaves of sourdough to bake. As for clean-up, there isn't any. The dough doesn't stick, so all you have to do is tap the basket over the garbage to release and remove any rice flour. Once the bread is out of the oven - the oven is turned off - the door is open to cool down - I place my basket in the oven to dry from any residual moisture from the dough; leaving the basket in the oven overnight to continue cooling and drying. My basket looks as good as new after proofing dozens of loaves of bread. I can't say enough good things about the Bulka brand - I want to get every style of basket they make. This is the only brand I will buy from now forward.

SUPERIOR PRODUCT
These are so far superior to the bamboo style banneton they shouldn't even be compared to each other. These are a little pricey, however they are worth it. The statement you get what you pay for applies here. Your bread doesn't stick, you don't have to wash liners, they absorb moisture. My only complaint is you can't really clean them so some of my cinnamon sugar loaf leaked and there is nothing I can do about it that one has just become the sugar loaf banneton. If you tried to clean them they peel apart like a cardboard box in the rain.

Perfect proofing basket
Love the banneton bread basket but seems small for 500g of flour! Love how easy the bread comes out of basket and you donโt need to season it. Wish I had ordered a bigger one! Iโm very happy that this company explain the size of the banneton basket was for 500g but only when you weigh it out after. So this is why I was thinking it was too small, so I will be purchasing the bigger one since the finished product would weigh more than 500g! Very pleasant to work with them. Love the sturdiness of the basket and how easy your bread comes out! Ordered the larger 9โ proofing basket and this one is just perfect for my 500g flour. After the company explained that a finished product weigh more and thatโs going to fit a basket by weight and not just grams ! Made a loaf yesterday and it came out of so nice and perfect! These proofing baskets are the greatest! For the cost they are worth every penny.

Less Deep
Less deep than my other banneton but my loaf came out with nice "oven rise". I was concerned because this banneton is about an inch less deep than what I have been using. The diameter is the same so I gave it a try. My go to recipe is 1000 grams with 80% hydration and I use a Lodge Double Dutch Oven. I think the extra hydration helped with allowing the loaf to rise even though it started out not as high as I am used to seeing. No problems with dough sticking and it cleaned up with just a few wipes with a brush. Overall I am happy with this banneton and it will go into my regular rotation. This is my Bleu Cheese/Jalapeรฑo sourdough.

Very poor quality. Pressed paper product.
Not very impressed with the construction of this product. Looks like pressed paper. Photos of it on Amazon didn't clearly show how cheaply this product was constructed. But it clearly states don't wash...it would melt if immersed in water.

MUCH easier to work with than wicker
I tend to make high hydration doughs with a decent amount of wholemeal flour so they can get pretty sticky. Wicker is fine but if Iโm not super careful I can end up partly deflating the dough as I try to get it out of the banneton. This has never even been close to happening with this one - it just makes the whole process of bulk fermentation a breeze.

Top quality
Excellent quality.

Pattern nicely transferred
My sourdough loaves tend to be on the smaller side and they donโt fill the bowl but the pattern is nicely transferred and the sides are tall enough to nicely cover the dough as it rises. It is made in Germany and I trust the fabrication.
