Does this combo come with the car base? It is pictured in the ad, but then Amazon recommends you buy the base????

If you have two vehicles it is convenient to have a base in each one so you do not have to take it out each time you travel. Just snap the car seat into the base.

Does the car seat work for a newborn?

No, idk if the car seat was updated since the last answer but my newborn has no head support and when installed in the car or stroller it sits straight up causing the newborns head to be chin to chest. This product needs to be recalled and reevaluate.

Is there any bassinet that is compatible with this stroller?

Yes, graco sits well. I used this stroller with my graco infant seat and it works and is safe.

What is the size of the packaging for shipment? and weight?

Around 40 pounds. The box is rather sizeable, 48x22x18. The stroller is packed assembled except for the two larger rear wheels and the trays which attach easily
