Highly recommended
Works amazing! Install drivers through TP-Link website. Kept dropping connection when gaming so i looked up solutions and all it took was going into device manager and disabling power efficient networking and it hasnt dropped connection at all. If you’re having issues, a quick google search can fix your problems :)

Fantastic network card
As an IT professional, I use a lot of different hardware, and I do mean A LOT. I have 6 different computers on my desk at work, just for me. I also have a lab with 6 computers at home where I teach myself about new technologies, something every truly serious IT professional has (or should have). I recently had the opportunity to acquire a switch for my home lab that supports 10Gbps on some of its ports. It's an enterprise-grade managed switch that's very similar to what we use at work, so naturally I snatched it quicker than a hungry snake striking at a mouse. It affords me the chance to learn more about the management features in an environment that is safe to really dig in and experiment without fear of crashing the network at work. At work, I also have a 10Gbps link between a couple of my computers and the server rack. It's really nice to have when troubleshooting issues. It's also really nice for speedy communication with the file server. Network drives perform as if they are local drives. Since I got my "new" (to me, anyway) switch at home, I decided to go ahead and get a few of these 10Gpbs network cards to go with it. They are fantastic! The drivers in Windows were easy to install and work well, and my Linux box simply saw it and started using it right out of the chute. It really could not have been easier to get them up and running. It's been a fantastic upgrade to my home lab.

If you're using Windows, skip this card
I bought TP-Link's 10gbe (TX401) card on sale after having Google Fiber 8gbit internet installed at my house. I also have a TP-Link AX16000 router, and multiple TP-Link switches. Until this card, I had nothing but great things to say about the value or 'bang for buck' of their products. Still no major issues with their brand, just steer clear of this card. My Win11 gaming machine kept randomly dropping connection under various load. Sometimes 1gbps, sometimes 6gbps. I didn't try it in my NAS so I can't comment. I had an extra Intel X540-T2 in my stash so I decided to put that in and give it a rip. Works flawlessly so I am returning this TP-Link 10gbe card. I tried various cables, drivers, settings, and all sorts of stuff to try to get it to work. Ultimately if it drops at random, it's useless. I was hoping to purchase a few more of these for our other machines in the house to remove my reliance on eBay 'Genuine' Intel cards. Other interesting behavior: it gets really, really hot. I suppose that's not surprising but I am concerned it doesn't have a fan on it to keep itself cool. I rigged up a 140mm fan near it and that seemed to cool it down quite a bit, but it didn't solve my issues. Aside from random drops, the performance copying files from my NAS was incredibly strange. My NAS also has an Intel X540-T2 and using my motherboard's built-in 2.5gbe (also Intel) NIC, I was able to get ~260-270MBps copying files over SMB. The TP-Link was all over the place: sometimes 10MBps, sometimes 200MBps. At random it seemed to do 800MBps with no real reason I could determine. This was between two Samsung 980 Pros on either end, so no caching/overhead shenanigans in theory. I'd be happy with this product if it was simply plug and play and didn't drop connection - even if it couldn't actually handle 10gbit sustained. I rarely see over 3-4gbit with Google Fiber (real world, not speed test) and my NAS drives top out at just under 900MBps anyway.

Easy install, better speed now
My six-year-old PC had an Ethernet port on the motherboard. After upgrading to fiber internet, I was only getting speeds of about 700 Mbps. Since the router is in the garage and my workstation is on the second floor, I needed an upgrade. The TP-Link card I chose was very easy to install; I used the installation CD (I still have an external CD drive). Now, my internet speed has more than doubled. However, due to the distance from the router, I can't reach the full 2000 Mbps that I'm paying for. Good price, solid card.

Excellent network adapter - Consistent speeds
The TX-401 has been great and rock solid ever since install. Installation was quick, however, I made sure to download the drivers before-hand, as Windows didn’t instantly recognize the device. I installed the card using a free PCI Express X16 port just next to my GPU. Since this is a PCI E x4 connector on the card, it fit perfectly on my Mobo. I’ve been very happy so far with the network card, and haven’t experienced any disconnects. I’ve also been able to fully utilize my over-provisioned 1.2 gbps Xfinity internet connection speed, using an SB8200 modem with link aggregation to an Asus RT-AX89X router, and then connecting my PC with the TX-401 network card to the 10G ethernet port on the router. The results have been a pretty consistent 1,100-1,300 mbps download speed (up to 1,400 mbps down on low traffic nights) when tested with Speedtest.net. In addition to typical workflow, gaming and game downloads have been fast with low latency experienced. I don’t think the low latency can really be attributed to the card, as I always had good ping times while using my onboard 1gb NIC, but just thought I’d share. In addition, in order to achieve the above results, I’ve changed a few of the adapter settings in windows after a bunch of googling, and using suggestions from a bunch of websites (there’s a good list of suggestions on a Steam forum under the title “Guide :: A Better Online Gaming Experience - Steam Community” (you can find it easily if you google). I suggest if you experience issues at first with the card, check your settings first to make sure it’s not just misconfigured. To name a key setting that’s caused some people headaches: “Recv Segment Coalescing for IPV4 and IPV6” should be ‘Disabled’. I can’t say much from the LAN and server side of things, as I haven’t really speed or stress-tested these features, however, I have confidence that should I need an NAS, I’ll be able to maximize the 10G network speeds using my router and network adapter combo. I highly recommend this product, but will check back if I experience any issues over the next few months.

Works on optic fiber, upgrade build, 5gb
impressive first try on pcie x1 at speed 4gb since mine was 5.5+. Then it slowed down at remaining within margins 2.5 or 3, kind of a small surprised. Easy to understand for installation, decent setup, I would recommend for upgrades, experiment builds. Cat6

DO NOT BUY. Trust me.
Garbage product. Stay away from it!! I am an experienced pc builder with over 20 pc’s built for friends and family. I have purchase this product for my personal computer and let me tell you how terrible this product is. It took multiple days to get working because there instructions are very unclear, and the fact that I knew more about computers then their support team should also tell you something. 2 months later, I got it to half way work. It’s like a 50% chance that I have internet connection when I turn on my pc. If I don’t I have to keep restarting the computer until it decides to turn on. I have all the updates and drivers and what not. Still no luck. BUY THE ASUS ONE. This thing also makes my pc super laggy when it’s not working. It slows it down to 100$ pc. I have a 9800x3d, and 5080. Leave it to this thing to kill your computer. DO NOT BUY.

Update: TP-Link 10Gb TX401 Ethernet cards still working great after 18 months
18 months UPDATE: Pros: My three TP-Link 10Gb TX401 Ethernet cards are still working great. Two of them are installed on Asus Prime X299-A II motherboards, and the third one is installed on an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard. Now connected with CAT6 cables at full 10Gb stable speed. Two of the cards are installed in Hyte Y60 cases hidden behind the vertical GPU with their included 8 cm low profile brackets. WoL works fine using the free "Wake on LAN (Magic Packet)" app from the Microsoft Store. Cons: Sometimes, randomly, after waking up the computer from sleep, the network card may take more than ten seconds before reconnecting to the network at 10Gb speed. But this happens quite rarely. Original review: Finally, an affordable 10Gb Ethernet network card with Wake-on-LAN (WoL) that works! The TP-Link 10Gb TX401 Ethernet card has a hardware design that supports Wake-on-LAN (WoL). Most other 10Gb Ethernet cards from other brands do not support WoL. When the PC is put to sleep mode, the TP-Link TX401 remains switched on and connected to the network while waiting for a Magic Packet to resume the PC if this option is enabled in Windows. To run properly at full 10Gb speed, the TP-Link TX401 network card must be installed in a PCIe 3.0 x4 expansion slot. It is also compatible with faster PCIe 4.0 x4 to x16 slots. The TP-Link TX401 has a Marvell (formerly Aquantia) AQtion AQC107 chipset. All three cards I bought had firmware version 3.1.100. Instead of using the drivers provided on the CD-ROM, I downloaded the latest official drivers and firmware from Marvell Public Driver Downloads website. In Category, select Marvell Public Drivers and in Part Number, select AQC107 and click Apply to view available downloads. I updated the cards to firmware 3.1.121, and I'm using Marvell Windows drivers version 3.1.7. For my LAN setup, the TP-Link TX401 cards are connected to a TRENDnet TEG-S750 5-Port 10GbE switch. The switch is also connected to the 10G Ethernet port of the Bell Giga Hub. Surprisingly, I get a stable 10 Gbps connection speed over CAT5e cables with a lenght of 40 feet max. Even though the 10G speed is perfectly stable, I will upgrade the cables to CAT6 to meet the minimum requirements for 10G Ethernet speed. Files copy between PCs are at full 1GB/s speed using NVMe drives. Of course, I get slower speed with SATA SSDs or HDD drives. For internet speed, I always get the full speed that the Bell Giga Hub gets because the LAN is not limited to a slower speed. The TP-Link TX401 will auto negociate with slower LAN speeds (100Mbps, 1Gbps, 2.5Gbps, 5Gbps). I tested it with an older TRENDnet TEG-S350 2.5GbE switch and it works just fine at 2.5G speed. So far, so good. Very happy with the result.

Velocidad prometida cumple perfectamente
Acabo de instalarla en dos PCs y las conecté directamente (sin switch ni ruteador) una a la otra con un cable cat8 de 10 metros que compré aquí mismo en Amazon. Mi necesidad de esta tarjeta es poder intercambiar archivos a alta velocidad entre ambas computadoras. No compré aún un switch de 10Gbps porque son caros y de momento no tengo más equipos a esta velocidad. Por ahí ví algunos comentarios que dicen que la velocidad no es la prometida. Estoy seguro de que o no estaban usando un cable calificado, o están tratando de alcanzar la velocidad con un switch/ruteador que no admite esta velocidad. Todo parece estar funcionando perfectamente, los drivers los identificó Windows Update por lo que no tuve que instalar nada de Asus. Adjunto una foto de una transferencia que hice de prueba de un archivo muy grande de una PC a la otra, la cuál muestra una velocidad completamente estable y a la velocidad esperada. Se copió rapidísimo. Muy satisfecho de momento. :-)

Bit pricey, but worth it
This is Windows 11 compatible, which is the main reason I bought it, but it performs very nicely, connects to my 10Gb hub just fine and seems to get near its rated speed. There's always some overhead, but this is holding up its end nicely so far. It is a bit pricey, not sure why 10Gb kit is still so expensive compared to plain old gigabit stuff.
