Design missed the mark
It is simplistic and durable, but the design has some flaws. The spindle shaft the cable winds onto is far too small. The cable it comes with, 3/16", is not able to make that tight of a turn. This leaves the cable loose and floating on the shaft and could be hazardous.The hand crank is substantial but it is longer than the winch is deep, so it will not work on a flat surface.

Haven’t used it but it seems to work well. Won’t know until I try to lift something with some weight.
