which I like. And you save a bit of money
So far as I can tell, this is the same exact model as the Kiwaya FS-1. The difference is here you get the geared tuners, which I like. And you save a bit of money. I have this Famous FS-1G, as well as the Famous FS-5G, that I bought on Amazon. Both of these ukuleles are great. This FS-1G is heavier in weight and looks much more plain/ boring than the koa-laminate FS-5G.Kiwaya/Famous are built lightly. The neck profile is slim, which I really like. It's not thick and chunky like a Flea/Fluke.The action is perfect on these Famous ukuleles. This makes them very easy on the fingers when playing. These are all-laminate instruments. Yes, they are pricey for a laminate but I love them. It also means they don't require as much care and humidification as a solid-wood uke, which as a lazy person I love.I bought both of mine from amazon and I believe these ukes shipped straight from Japan, or at least from an importer.Normally I would never recommend buying a uke without a full setup from a respected uke dealer, but these Famous/Kiwaya's appear to be perfectly set up at their Japanese factory. I am 3-for-3 (I have the thinline version of the FS-1 too). All perfect action/ intonation.I highly recommend this ukulele or its better-looking brother the FS-5G.

neck profile is thin thin
this ukulele sounds fantastic!! Has a nice wide neck 1.5 ,, but the neck profile is so so thin I returned it. It Im sure is great for small ,I mean small hands. But it was wafer thin feeling to me. Really too bad, because as I said it sounds great. I actually considered trying to glue more wood to the back of neck and then shaping it. because the ONLY thing I didn't love about it was the thin neck.

Terrific
The media could not be loaded. This is an absolutely terrific ukulele, which is a steal at this price (when you consider it's identical to a Kiwaya KS-1 Ukulele that will cost you almost twice the price). The build construction is amazing, the laminate is professional music grade stuff that is hyper thin, hyper resonant and ultra light - that means great punchy tone, lots of sustain and volume. Contrary to the other review deriding the thin neck - a thin neck (profile) is something that is really sought after by ukulele fans. It's also helped by the fact that the nut width on this is wider than most - best of all worlds reallyYes, it's very plain looking, but there you are - that's not what these are about. These are ALL about playability. Really good uke for the money - check out my video review below of the one with friction tuners (otherwise identical)

Great service
This ukelele is well made and is nice to play. I would recommend changing the strings toSomething a little warmer as the strings that come with it is a little to bright for me.Other than that this is an excellent instrument and the service was excellent as well.Recommended.

Beautiful sounds, but no gig bag as described in the product info.I haven't used any other ukulele. This is my first Ukulele. It was shipped with beautiful origami birds, but not a gig bag. Also I had to pay the big tax separately since it was shipped from Japan.
