MUST HAVE & MUST READ BOOK
I have always enjoyed my classes with Professor Manahan, not only he provides specific details and teaches well, he also goes beyond and above to make sure his students gets the maximum learning they needed. Having that said, I was delighted when I found out that he published books which I know would be really beneficial for a lot of younger generations like me. The book “The Key on Landing a Job” provides straight to the point indicators that you need to ace an interview and eventually get the job of your dreams! Simple, direct and meaningful pointers!! That’s what we need! This book will walk you through the beginning until the end of the interview process. Two of the most insightful topic that I learned and guilty of as well is one the “Break down the Walls” topic, where he emphasizes that we needed to build rapport to the interviewer where at times, they don’t really scan through our resume and the only time that they can get to know us is by building that connection during the interview. I don’t do well on phone interviews and I think this is one of the reasons why. Also, asking question at the end of the interview is one way to show that you have done a research of the company that you are applying for. This has been one of the items as well that I don’t do. I don’t ask questions. Little did I know that it would be one of the vital components of my interview process. Now that I know where I stand, I am grateful that I have purchased this book, made me to do some self-checks and also knowing the secrets, I am confident that I can ace my next interview.

The most helpful guide I have read!
The Key To Landing A Job: The Interview overall was a great buy! I enjoyed reading this book and going over the numerous tricks and aspects it goes over to land a job. The book goes over some of the essentials that we hear about when going to an interview and how to properly get them done, along with some secret ways that are not so known to the people like us applying for those positions. Some of secret points it goes over that I personally had never really thought of doing was a follow up after the interview and how important it is.In addition, I found the point of do you have any questions for me in chapter 8 or starting in page 21 to be very intriguing and shocking. I have gone to many interviews and this is a question that seems to be always there and I always find myself either making some of the errors the book talks about that I shouldn't talk about, or not saying anything. This particular chapter shocked me in the sense that the best way to answer is with open-ended questions about the company's culture. The DO NOT'S mentioned in the opening page of the concept referred to as "me, me, me" type of questions are a very common mistake for the interviewee to make that can tell an employer from the get-go what kind of candidate for the position you are. This book is so great to even go to the extent of not just giving you this amazing heads-up point, but comes with many examples of the kinds of question one could potentially ask and how to rephrase simple yes and no questions to be more intricate and open-ended. This strategy in an interview goes a long way an will also help to get to know the potential boss and if you want to work for them as it gives an inkling to how they would respond in a business like discussion, while making you stand out for doing your research on the company.Overall, I think the key aspects to landing a job in this book are fairly easy to apply to the future interviews and help me stand out form the rest of the applicants. I also believe that many of the employers that are approached with these strategies will be in awe that someone is doing some of these that the probability of getting hired will vastly increase.-Valeria Ibanez Wood
