Accurate, easy to install and use
Replaced an old thermostat from who knows when (the 70s?) that finally died. This one was quick and easy to install. Very easy to use, read and control. A simple option that I was looking for, it's pretty decreet on the wall. Reads the temps accurately as far as I can tell. Great quality and a decent price.

Works with 2 wire floor furnace; needs some adjustments
This works with my old floor furnace which has a two wire thermostat. It comes with two wall plates; one for a two wire heating or cooling system, and one for a combination heating/cooling/fan system. Because I have a two wire heating system, I did not have to figure out the wiring directions for a combined system. The wallplate for the two wire system is clearly marked for red, white and yellow wires. The wires connect by wrapping around screws. The installation was pretty straightforward. Since this unit is the same size as my very old Honeywell mechanical thermostat. I didn't have to drill new mounting holes in my plaster wall. The product includes mounting screws but does not include wall anchors (plastic sleeves that set into the wall for the screws to go into). Once installed I did need to make some adjustments. - The thermometer on the thermostat cover was not reading the same as a digital thermometer, so I used the screw on the back of the cover to calibrate the thermostat's thermometer. But any time the cover was unsnapped and moved, I had to tweak that calibration again. - I had to turn down the anticipator setting to get the furnace to cycle more often. The setting seemed a little low for my furnace gas control unit. But the adjustment worked and the furnace cycles often enough to keep the room temperature to a 2 degree swing. - The temperature setting on the thermostat has to be high compared to the temperature reading at the thermostat. To keep the temperature centered at 70 F, I had to set the thermostat halfway between 70 and 75 F. But that's just something to get used to and remember if I ever want to reset the temperature in the room. ( If I were wedded to precise numbers on the settings I'd use a digital thermostat and have to remember to check if the battery is getting low.) Overall this White-Rodgers Thermostat seems to be a decent unit. We'll see if it lasts over 14 years like my old Honeywell.

I'm finally happy with my thermostat
I hated my first thermostat that came with my system (could never tell what it was actually set on - I was always too cold or too hot), loathed the second one when the internal battery died (it wasn't great but it was better than the first) , and the one I had Just before buying the White-Rodgers just plain drove me crazy because it was erratic - very erratic.. All well known name brand thermostats sold in box stores everywhere. And then I remembered White-Rodgers from my old system - and wondered if they had a model for my present system... By golly they did! For my installation this was a breeze to do, unhook the old and slap this one in. And then - the reason I bought this - adjust the settings - thermostat, and room read out are all adjustable. The other reason I got this is because it seems to be the only thermostat out there that doesn't have a sneaky little internal battery that will die. Fairly easy install - I recommend that you read and re-read instructions online and in the booklet. Double check that this will in fact work with your system before you order - there is plenty of info on these thermostats so read, read, read - and then order! I'm very happy with this - I expect to remain happy with it for many, many years.

Simple and Reliable Heating and Cooling Thermostat But It May Not Last
Sometimes the tried and true simple device is the best! I replaced an electronic thermostat on my heating and cooling system that was aggravating the crap out of me. This is a simple electromechanical heating and cooling thermostat - It is NOT for heat pumps though. That requires a different type thermostat. Note that although this is a simple thermostat to operate its not for idiots. If you cycle your air conditioner on then off then back on without waiting the required 3 minutes you may trip the circuit breaker on the AC unit. It's not the fault of the thermostat if you do this - it's a user fault. Every AC manufacturer warns not to do that. Because this is an electro-mechanical thermostat it must be mounted level or the temperature setting may be affected. Get out your level - don't do it by eye. The good - simple & reliable operation. It just works. When you turn on the AC it turns on without delay. When you turn on the heat it turns on without delay. Mine seems to be well calibrated for temperature. Limitations - The thermostat wiring hookup is the old style where you wrap the end of the wire around the screws that are located at seemingly random places on the thermostat base and you have to flatten the thermostat wiring once connected so the the thermostat will connect. Update - Its a little over 2 years later. I have noticed that the thermostat seems to have developed a tendency to excessively stick "on" in either heating or cooling. It sometimes noticeably over heats or over cools by several degrees unless you tap the thermostat. I believe the problem is that the contacts are deteriorating and have some tendency to stick "on". This was precisely why the original mechanical heating and cooling thermostats migrated to using a little mercury capsule with the contacts in it instead of plain mechanical contacts. But modern sensitivities are to reduce or eliminate mercury in most items, so this is what you get. Instead of removing the internal plastic cover over the contacts and cleaning the contacts which might reduce the problem for a while, I replaced this thermostat with a Honeywell non-programable electronic thermostat. The electronic thermostats do not have this wear-out mechanism. This thermostat worked perfectly for over a year, but somewhere between then and just over two years I noticed this flaw in its operation. That causes me to reduce the rating.

Simple is better
Finaly, a simple thermostat that requires no complicated programming to override the programming. Plus, no battery ever needed. And no mercury.

So easy to use and keeps the temp where you set it.

Need a technician to install if you have a programmable thermostat. I knew that in advance.

Incompatible with 2 wire system wich is most places from the 70's and earlier.
