None of the USB ports or the SD card reader worked, I didn't even bother with the other ports and returned the product immediately.

This USB Hub adaptor from Editors Keys is a plug-in-and-play USB C hub that is fully functional and reaches the advertised technical specifications. The cable length is very short which is good for laptops as it doesn’t take up much room and can be easily thrown in a laptop bag. It’s very lightweight as it has an aluminium unibody that not only makes this hub more durable, but also allows it to dissipate heat more efficiently, especially as its rated to support the full USB PD 3.0 20 volts at 5 amps (which is 100 watts) of USB-C power delivery pass-thru. The anodised aluminium colour nearly matches my Space Grey MacBook Pro being just a shade or two darker.It features 3x USB 3.0 ports, separate Micro SD and SD Card readers (both can be used at a time and they support up to 480Mbps), 1x HDMI 1.4 output, 1x 3.5m audio output and a USB-C Power Delivery pass-thru port for charging your laptop. The HDMI Port is only using the 1.4 specification, meaning its maximum capable output is 4k at a 30Hz refresh. If you plan to use this hub with a 4k Monitor or TV, then the output will only be limited to 30Hz which is more than usable for basic operations, but not as smooth as your laptops main display. There are other alternatives that offer a full HDMI 2.0 spec output at 4k 60Hz. However, this hub is capable of a full 1080p 60hz output, so if 4k isn't important to you and you're sticking with 1080p this hub will be more than sufficient for 1080p HDMI video output. The hub is also bus powered as well so it does not require external power to function.One very strange omission is if you plug in some headphones into the dock it recognises it as a display instead of a separate USB DAC output. Another is that the tables for the I/O is printed upside down. I did notice the hub can start to get warm and even a little hot with everything plugged in at the same time, but this is due to the power delivery system, and the temperature drops when nothing is connected except power. After running a few data tests, I didn’t notice any significant speed decrease when using this hub as USB 3.0 provides plenty of bandwidth for most normal tasks.Overall, I like the fact it can support the full USB PD of 100 watts pass-thru, however adding an audio output that acts like a virtual display on Mac OS is very strange. Also, its important to consider if you're going to be hooking up a 4K display or not, as 4K 30Hz is a sub-par experience compared to 4K 60Hz. There are cheaper alternatives that will do the same job as well, which makes this harder to recommend.Thank you for reading my review, if you found it helpful feel free to let me know below.

This is a great little adaptor, it does exactly what it should. I connected it to the laptop, it connects via USB-C and it recognised it straight away, there are a lot of connection options, though personally one extra USB port would have been nice. One thing to mention is the HDMI port will only work if you laptop/computer is able to do HDMI via USB-C and not all can, so if this is a port you will use check that your computer is able to output a HDMI signal via it's USB-C port.The adaptor is well built with a metal construction apart from the fact that the port names are written upside down, what were they thinking? If you have the Editorkeys logo at the top then the ports labels below are just the wrong way up, its baffling how something could be so well made yet get something like this so fundamentally wrong. It's only a small niggle that does not effect the functionality but just gives the adaptor the feeling of a prototype rather than a finished product.I really like the light on the end which lights up when the adaptor is plugged in, it works nicely, it serves no purpose apart from letting you know it's plugged in but it made me smile.I have tried all the ports and all work well, no issues at all with any of them, there were also no heat issues when everything was plugged into the ports which is again really good to know.The one big downside though and something I find with a lot of these adaptors is the lead is quite short, if you have a laptop on a riser then it just tends to hand down and won't reach the desk, it's quite annoying and because the lead is attached you can swap for a different one. If only the lead could have been a little longer to enable the flexibility to place were you want on your desk, especially as there will be a lot of untidy wires going into this thing.A well built USB adaptor hub that works well with either a mistake or strange design choice on the port labelling and a very short cable.Pros:- All the ports and inputs work well- Computer recognised the adaptor first time- Well built with solid construction- Looks good with the blue light on the endCons:- Port labelling is upside down- Lead to computer is quite short

Whilst I love my MacBook it is slightly frustrating that to connect any peripheral you need a USB-C adapter. Now I've had a couple (including the Apple version) but they are either very unreliable and get massively hot, or in the case of the Apple they are very restrictive in their ports.So step up the Editor's Keys USB-C Adapter Hub! Whilst at the top end of the price range I don't mind spending the money providing it does the job. And it certainly does perform. I cannot honestly think of any other connections which I might need - 3 fast USB-3 ports, fast Micro-SD and SD card reader slots, 3.5mm headphone socket (nobody else has that!), a PD (power delivery) port which handles a higher power than usual, and a 4K HDMI output port not the usual 1080p version on other adapters. Editor's Keys have really studied what us MacBook people need and this unit delivers. I have no connection with them and I paid my hard-earned money (no freebie review version for me!) but I can thoroughly recommend this adapter if you have a MacBook with USB-C or the latest iPad Air or Pros.
