Easy to write in, best used with a fine to med gel pen. It absorbs beautifully & doesn't bleed through. The paper is thick & made to look aged & pretty well done. I'd also suggest, putting a piece of parchment paper under the page while writing in it to be aware of where the edges differ, or you could end up accidentally write on the following or previous page. Just as a precaution. I love writing in my book, I decided to make mine a Tarot Guide, with helpful knowledge of Oils, Herbs, Potions & Moon & Candle Spells...

This came in perfect condition. I had noticed a couple of people along the way mentioning a chemical smell upon opening the package. I 150% had no chemical smell from mine. It just smells like leather, even if I put it right to my nose. There was no mildew or mold or anything of the sort. The pages aren't uniform and the aging is done really well, with the bits of staining or wrinkles like there'd been water damage (intentionally done remember!). Little imperfections make it clear it was handmade and this isn't some robot handing you a knock off. Love it! My son asked me to buy him one the second I showed it to him.

This is supposed to look old, which I just love, and it mostly does. The pages do, anyway; the cover, not so much (that will change with time and use). Some of these leatherbound books look about a thousand years old, this one looks more like maybe three or four hundred, with the exception of the cover. The pages are slightly less aggressively aged than some of the more rustic ones, the paper is cottony soft and the deckle edge is nice and feathery. It looks nice and feels sturdy. The stone on the cover doesn't look like genuine lapis, it looks more like resin, bit it's still pretty. The advertised page count is off though (it's possible it may vary from book to book). Mine has 68 sheets, so 136 pages of writing surface. I'm very happy with it. If you have a Dungeon Master on your gift list, this will make a great gift! I'm very happy with mine.

I brought this to do some shadow work and I absolutely LOVE it!

I really want to love this journal. I love everything about it except for the fact that the cover curls so much. I’m going to keep it because I do love everything else about it. But the curling is really not aesthetically pleasing and not comfortable during use the journal doesn’t lay flat when I open it whatever the outside is made of is very firm. Part of me wants to try and see if I can make it more flexible. I might try to do that before I really invest my energy into filling this journal with special intentions.

I bought both colors same seller. I like the light brown more. Pages are lighters and seems a bit more durable than the darker of the 2. I love both clasps but the little one seems a bit lose compared to the beige one. Great gift for a writers or a beginner witch for a spell book.

I love this journal. It's much easier to write in than the hard cover ones. I love the look of the clasp, the antique looking pages as well as the cover. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
