Inconsistent amount of ingredients between packages, Star anise dominates the nose, but not overpowering. Some flavor change on the pallet, but not a lot. After about 15 minutes the pomegranate and butterfly pea starts to come out. Used Roku Japanese Gin which is a clean neutral Gin and Fever tree Indian tonic. The other issue is that the botanical components float and drinking without a straw you are constantly spitting out the ingredients. A mouthful of star anise is not exactly subtle. Also to show inconsistency between packets, one started minor color changing to pink after about 2 minutes due to the butterfly pea, the other didn't. If you know butterfly pea then you know its color influence. The picture is after 15 minutes and no color change. I think the better use of this is to put 2 packets into a bottle of Gin or Vodka, and let set 2-4 days (to taste) then strain. I will be using it for this use in the future. If used as directed I give it 2 stars, if used in a bottle to change things up It has potential.
