The product is doing the job.My car had doggy smell and cigarette smells in it when I purchased it. I could smell them in the car every now and then. No longer, its doing what it says on the advert. It's working.

It can be difficult to tell whether an ionizer is working. I have a Vortex VI-3500 ionizer at home - one of the best ionizers. It produces a slight smell that is very similar to the PureMate ionizer. The manufacturer answered a question that I posed regarding how much Ozone is created (You don't want an ionizer creating ozone - especially in the small, enclosed space of a car). They replied there is negligible ozone production. The machine is easy to use. Taking everything above into account, I would say it works, at a good price.

It appears to work well in my car but I only received it yesterday so a bit early to tell! I bought it to replace one that I've had for about 15 years (a make no longer available) so if it lasts as long as that one did I'll be very happy.

Just installed in my car with combination of an air freshener. Time will tell how effective it is by how much dust/particles are collected on the electrode needles and dust collector plate. The instruction on how to remove the cover is very poor. Under the label on the rear is a small Phillips screw remove this first then with a flat head screwdriver clip upwards prize out four retaining lugs two on each side, though only two small cut outs on one side so other two not obvious on the other side.

This product works, in that it switches on when plugged into my car, but I honestly have no idea if it makes any difference to the air

Not sure I can see any benefit. The smell is different when on but no significant improvement
