That said, I used fresh alkaline batteries and after hours of use (about the equivalent of at least 8 full CDs) on both players, neither one drained the batteries and today, still power up and play just fine. (I used Rayovac) Just saying... **Q: what size batteries does this take?** A: It takes AA batteries, but I do not recommend it because mine didn't work properly. **Q: After reading reviews,i'm confused.
