This is "good fat" cod oil, you want to eat it/drink it/add it to egg salad, or something (don't cook it.). You are getting one of the best cod liver and cod liver oil mixes and it should be eaten. **Q: At what temperature are these cans cooked at by the packing company and for how long ? This is not raw fish liver.** A: I'm not sure about the cooking temperature or how long, but I know it's ready to eat right out of the can. I actually found out about this brand after watching a video from Dr. Berg, so I knew it was going to be high quality. I've enjoyed several cans of these and the flavor and texture are always consistent. It tastes way better than I thought it would and have ordered it twice and will be ordering more when I run out of my last order. It is a little pricey, but worth it and a great way to get vitamins A and D. It's actually cheaper if you buy it by the 12 pack, too. **Q: Could you make a pate with these similar to chicken liver pate to serve with crackers? Looking for ways to eat besides plain.** A: I don't see why not...that would be great! I really enjoy the taste, its much like perpared salmon but melt-in-your-mouth softer. Look up some recipes on the 'net like cod liver egg salad...I often just make my own recipes using mayo, brown mustard, spices and chopped up fermented pickles. One thing to know, it doesn't sit well overnight in the fridge, so plan to consume the entire can the day you open it.
