Educational and Fun Rolled into One!
This National Geographic Crystal Growing Kit is easy to do and comes complete with everything you need to create two crystal trees. You get two trays stands 2 trees, 5 colored washable markers, and 1 bottle of crystal growing liquid. The instructions are straightforward so that an 8 year old and up with supervision can easily create these crystal trees in about 30 minutes and after 6-8 hours the crystal trees will be complete. I love how this comes with a learning guide so you and your child (children) can learn how crystals are formed. I also like how National Geographic even included a Geode specimen inside. Overall a great Stem Kit that's not only educational but fun too!

Fun kid activity
My 8 year old really liked this project. Color the trees, pour in the solution. There were already small crystals within an hour, and we woke up to full crystal trees! The crystals feel like foam, and they do crumble when you touch them. Definitely not something that will last, but lots of fun to do.

Fun project
Not really crystals, but the kids had fun coloring them and watching them grow over time. Kids ages 5. - 10.

Great product!
We had a great time watching the crystals form. Once they started showing growth it was fun to check the development every 30 minutes or so.

Fun art activity. Not particularly focused on science
The instructions were clear. The trees were easy and fun to color. The markers were not great quality. We bought 3 kits and each one had a dried out marker. The kids really enjoyed waiting for the crystals to form and watch them grow. However, the “crystals” were more like “snowflakes.” I was expecting the “crystals” to be hard but they were fluffy. My4-year-olds enjoyed the activity more than my 6-year-old. I wish included in the instructions there was more emphasis on the science of the growing crystals. I was hoping to have made it more into a science Lesson/learning activity without having to research on our own how the “liquid” turns to “crystal”

Won't last....
They came out amazing!! The only thing is if you want them to last that won't happen. It falls off of them, very easy and feels like shaving cream. very neat though and easy enough to do with a two-year-old. (The coloring part that is)
