The lead is soft and dark (how I like it) like a 3B or 4B (good for writing but you’ll need to sharpen more often). But the best and most original part is the different colored wood. Each has either a different solid color or two-tone color to the barrel wood. The shavings are so beautiful and cool. I give them to my students on special occasions. Smooth flow to the paper. ### ⭐⭐⭐ I’m in it for the trimmings *by L***Z on July 19, 2023* This is difficult to rate as I don’t care for the pencil as a writing utensil, but I love the trimmings. They make me want to become a photographer. Inspiring to find beauty in such a random place. Aspara is a Hindustani brand. There’s no question that American and Japanese brands are my preferred choice with German coming in third. I learned of these on r/pencil and gave them a whirl, but they just don’t do it for me.
