Sports Research® Antarctic Omega-3 Krill Oil 1000mg, 30 Softgels

I was very happy with the Sports Research Superba Krill Oil. I have used the major "RED" brand and several different brands and this by far exceeds them all in price and quality. The Liquid Softgels are truly 1000 MG in each. Some brands of different supplements, including Krill Oil, advertise a certain MG level but don't state that you must take multiple doses to reach that MG level. Not so with this brand. It says 1000 MG and you get 1000 MG. Also, they arrived in excellent condition. I have ordered some which have arrived with open or crushed softgels and Krill Oil loose in the bottle. These were in excellent shape. I cannot take fish oil, even the "Enteric Coated" brands, due to the "Fish Burps" which always follow. Most brands of Krill Oil have not affected me in this way and this brand has been very pleasant in this respect - NO FISH BURPS. Why am I writing this review? Because I had a real problem with Cholesterol. I actually was put on Statin drugs for a very brief period. Each drug caused immediate leg problems and when I reported it to the doctor, he would change to the next Statin drug. After the second change I began my research and discovered a myriad of information on Fish Oil, Krill Oil, and Red Yeast Rice. I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I did my own personal research. I found I could not take Fish Oil and Krill Oil seemed to produce better results anyway. I started my regimen of Krill Oil and Red Yeast Rice results according to the doctor were "Amazing". He told me to keep doing what I was doing. My LDL, Triglycerides and Total Cholesterol all went down significantly. My HDL went up. I have the Lab reports to prove it. I am not going to say the exact numbers because each person is different and it may or may not work for you. I just know what worked for me, and has continued to work for 4 years. NO STATIN DRUGS FOR ME. Do your own research and see what is best for you, personally. I've found what works for me and I've found the best & most convenient place to purchase is Amazon. The best brand of Krill Oil for me is Sports Research Antarctic Krill Oil.

The package states it is not for the treatment of any symptom or disease. So I will not make any claims that it fixes anything. I'm no doctor, and listening to me is not the same as listening to your doctor. That said, doctors do agree that increasing omega 3 fatty acids in the diet is a good thing. And this product does that with a little vanilla thrown in for style. Be aware that most sources say the beneficial dose of omega 3 fatty acids is 500 mg a day. This product does not provide that in one capsule. Simple solution, and the one I chose: take two. One with breakfast one with dinner. Sure, the krill oil folks will tell you that because of this and that in the composition of the fatty acids in krill oil, you can get away with taking less. But studies have also shown that the composition of the oils does not really matter. So don't under supplement. If 500 mg is the accepted dose for nutritional support, then take it. These pills have a fairly strong odor in the bottle, and made my pill fob stink. Had to start carrying them separately in order to take them on my meal break at work. But they do the job well. Now, I said I wouldn't make any claims they fixed anything, but I will note the following that have happened since I began taking the supplements. Both of these are verifiable using data from my fitness tracker, not just my own subjective feelings. First, my heart rate is lower than it was a month ago. Second, I am getting deeper, better quality sleep and waking up more refreshed. Both of these are listed as potential benefits of supplementing with omega 3 fatty acids. Should you add omega 3s to your daily supplements? Medical data seems to say yes. Should you take krill oil over fish oil, and particular this krill oil? Well, that's up to you. The pill size (not bad) and vanilla flavor are definitely reasons to think about this one. Less than recommended dosage is something to consider in your pricing equation as well. While this is a good product, it is likely I will try a couple more with higher doses to compare the effects before settling on one brand. Seems to be a great product. I take it for cholesterol and my Dr say my numbers are great!

Great Product ...

I spent over a month going researching Krill oil and also this brand over other brands using "User Reviews and also health and science sites and journals. I knew I wanted Krill but I would be new to it. From my past experience with supplements and also my various prescribed medications, I wanted to make sure I was buying a product that offered a chance that I would see beneficial results from and not a 'placebo' effect. So I would need to find a product that was pure, high quality, and free of additives and artificial ingredients let alone preservatives. Why take something for overall health if you are just going to pump artificial and non beneficial chemicals into your body? That was my thinking. It came two days ago and I took my second dose today. I again was worried about a 'placebo affect" before I even took my first dose, so my fiancee was my guinea pig. I had him take the recommended dose at the same time I did.... BUY THIS PRODUCT!! I feel great! I feel clarity, I have focused concentration, I have ENERGY! With no negative side affects. The product does have a fishy smell. I believe this is because it was shipped in an airtight container with a safety deal as all products should, duh! But when you take an individual capsule out of the bottle and hold it all you smell is a VERY slight fishy smell and vanilla. YOU DO NOT taste the "fish" or have an aftertaste of "fish" and NO 'fishy burps". After coming home this a.m. (after a twelve hour night shift highly demanding job) my fiancee said to me (out of the blue and without any questioning from me) "Hun, I felt great last night! You did well on buying and choosing those "pills". I felt energized and could concentrate, and it lasted all night!" Patient and Guinea Pig tested approved!

I started taking fish oil many years ago to address chest pain I'd had since I was a kid. Before taking any kind of fish oil supplement, I would occasionally suffer severe chest pain after going from an excited (e.g. anything that would significantly raise my blood pressure) to a rested state. It’s the sort of searing, alarming pain that would cause any rational person a great deal of concern. My doctor had me perform stress tests when I was younger but never found anything conclusive, so I lived with it and tried to slowly bring myself down whenever I completed something involving exercise. Supplementing with fish oil finally helped to eliminate my chest pains. I am certain of this because the chest pains will come back if I go without for more than a month or so. Anyway, Sports Research’s Krill oil supplement seems to do the job of 2-4 of the "Doctor's Best" brand of high EPA/DHA fish oil. I have used this product for 6 months and do not plan to re-order any other fish oil supplement. I'm not partial to fish, so supplementing with something in pill form suits my needs perfectly. I have never had any "fishy" burps with these, which is something that would prevent me from taking them. Lastly, I considered switching from "standard" fish oil to Krill because my mother recommended it for something else (tendonitis). I haven't noticed any marked improvement in the condition I originally sought to treat with this supplement, but I will continue using it because I have not had any chest pain (that I specifically use fish oil to prevent). One pill per day is better than four, which means smaller bottles and less overall waste.

Quality of the product is good. Price way higher than the quality. The seller says it is imported and hence so expensive due to import duties.

Inflammation is down with over 2 weeks usage. Better moods as well. Overall, a good product...
