I switched to Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Small Bite for my dog, and it’s been a great choice. The kibble size is just right for smaller mouths, making it easy to chew without crumbling into dust. My dog adjusted quickly and seems to really enjoy the taste—no coaxing needed at mealtime. What I like most is the ingredient list. It uses real chicken as the first ingredient, with no by-product meals, artificial flavors, or preservatives. The formula also includes wholesome grains, veggies, and added vitamins, which makes me feel better about what my dog is eating. Pros: Smaller kibble size perfect for small dogs High-quality ingredients with real chicken as the first ingredient No artificial additives or fillers My dog loves the taste and finishes every bowl Cons: A little pricier than some big-box brands Strong smell when you first open the bag (my dog loves it, but it’s noticeable) Overall, this is a premium dog food that delivers on both quality and taste. My dog is going on about 15 years old and is 50 pounds. Almost half of his teeth have been removed (see below for why I recommend the small bite formula). I wish I had fed him food of this quality all these years. I made the switch over to Blue Buffalo about a year ago from Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food, Hi Prairie Canine Formula with Roasted Bison & Venison, 30-Pound Bag . He gobbled up the chicken and brown rice flavor right away. I noticed the following benefits within the first week of feeding him this: 1. Noticeable energy - he is up and running around a little more than usual. He also has a more lively look in his eyes. 2. Appetite - his appetite neither went up nor down, but I have noticed that he loves this food. At first he ate about a half to a full cup more than I normally give him, but that tapered back down to his normal amount by the end of the first week. 3. Digestion - I have purchased both the regular and small bite pellet sizes, and he digests the small bite pellets better. He has had many teeth removed, so I have noticed that the small bite formula is easier on his gums and teeth. Overall, I highly recommend this food. You pay more for it, but I noticed an immediate difference in my dog's health. To me, that's worth the price. If your dog has had teeth removed, then I also recommend their small bite formula.

Dog loves

This food caused my beautiful baby much distress as well as it scared me for her. I first gave it to her on January 12 2026. She threw up all night and had very wet poop. She continued to throw up all the water she drank all morning. It took 4 days of eating boiled chicken &rice for her to hold down food. This Blue Buffalo almost killed my dog. I feel so bad because I gave it to her .Our dogs trust us, and I have failed. Never again will I give her Blue Buffalo. This is not a good brand anymore. I hope that my review and others will save some other dogs, that their owners will stay away from this bad bad food. Thank you for reading this.

Tried many many quality brands of dry dog food on mant breeds over the years. This stuff is golden for my mini golden doodle a. They are healthy little fur babies!
