A quietly powerful deck
I admire the research and knowledge with which Mr. Place creates his decks, but I have not felt called to any of his previous decks. There is something different about this one for me, though. It has a quiet depth that I have been enjoying using. The answers I have received for all kinds of readings have been surprisingly powerful, sometimes coming in from unexpected angles. If you are thinking about this deck, give it a try. I’ve been very pleased with it.

Beautiful deck!
I have a couple of his decks and not only is the artwork lovely, the deck itself is intricate with layers of meanings hidden inside of meanings.

Intelligence and Art to take you there...
As with Robert Place's Alchemical Tarot the imagery is beautiful, simple, deeply evocative. For divination I use only three cards (per his directions) and allow the characters, their orientation, their movements and their intentional symbolism to guide and to reveal. It's not one of those decks where the designer has thrown everything esoteric at you in order to cover all the bases and perhaps justify their work. Robert has done his work [read his books, please] and has distilled primary matter into the water of life. This particular deck along with his writings have led me to a greater interest in, and understanding of, Platonics and the history of Hermetics for which I'm grateful. These cards speak to me!I must say, however, though they are a good size for my hands, they don't riffle shuffle well--it's a matter of the way they're cut. I tend to toss them one hand to another, then spread them for a draw.

Fantastic
I love these cards. High quality. Beautiful art. Great insights when reading with them. I just wish there was a little bigger guide rather than having to buy one of Places huge tomes. I have purchased The Alchemical Tarot from Robert M Place as well.

A unique and beautiful deck
I fell in love with Robert Place's art while reading his book "Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination". The book contains many sketches by Mr. Place. I picked up this deck as soon as I saw a few sample pictures. The art is wonderful and I would give the deck five stars, but I'm knocking one off for the words that appear on some of the Major Arcana. The deck is based on neo-Platonic philosophy and mysticism, which is made clear in the little white book. However, the author has gone further than this and labeled certain elements on certain of the Major Arcana with words, indicated which part of the Platonic tripartite soul is represented there (Appetite, Will, Reason). I find this to be a heavy-handed approach that goes against the spirit of Tarot as a pictorial language.Nonetheless, everything else about the deck I love, with the possible exception of the card stock. It is unusually thick which makes the deck overly cumbersome to handle for anyone with smaller hands.(As an aside, I bought the deck locally after ordering from Mr. Place - I couldn't wait for the mail! He promptly refunded my purchase price after I returned the second deck to him, and for this I am grateful.)

My favourite deck
The pictures are outstandingly beautiful, full of life and colour. Some of the images differ from the standard decks, but this is a great positive because they are so intuitively easy to interpret, which adds another (deeper) layer of meaning for the reader casting the cards. If there is any negative, it's that the minor Arcana don't have the numbers printed on the card and you may find yourself having to count the number of suit symbols in the picture until you've memorized them all, but I really liked that each had a name corresponding to the image (also not printed on the cards, but really obvious and easy to get familiar with) The cardstock and size is perfect for handling.

I gave this to my husband only because I am crazy about him
I bought this for my collection, and was excited and pleased when it arrived. My husband was looking at the deck with those big liquid eyes, and his birthday was 2 days away. He is very pleased with his gift. He has it on his desk and uses it everday. The card stock is excellent. The colors are vivid yet true to the tones selected by the artist. This is a dignified deck. The artwork is strong, not fussy. The figures are Pre-Raphaelite in faces, costume, and posture. The deck is fully illustrated. A must for collectors.

A must have
If you know Robert M. Place style then you will like these Tarot cards. I love the Italian feel and words (I speak Italian) and I love how the deck talks. There's energy behind each card and reading with it for others and myself is awesome. If you're doing Shadow Work I highly recommend doing it with this deck. Illustrations are gorgeous. Out of all the RMP Tarot decks I like this one the best.
