They're okay
I'm fairly new to spinning poi, only having about 2 months of experience, but there are some major complaints I have about these poi.Firstly, the cord connecting the finger loops to the poi is incredibly thin and after only 2 months is starting to fray in some parts. The cord tangles super easy too. If you plan on getting these, buy yourself some nice thick shoelaces or something to make yourself some new cords that won't tangle as easily.Second complaint is that the cord that connects to the ball cannot be replaced. Granted, these are pretty inexpensive poi, but you should be able to replace those cords as well. The only reason this is an issue to me at all is that one of the cords that connect to the ball actually broke and since there is no way to open the poi to replace a bulb or attaching string, I had to super glue it in place.Other than that, these don't hurt too bad when you inevitably whack yourself with them, have some cool color settings and look great in dark or dim light.IMPORTANT: If you're a man of average height (I'm 5'11") and plan to keep the cord that comes on these, at least shorten it. The original length of the cord resulted in many unpleasant taps to "the gentlemen" before shortening the cord.

Great product... while they work!
These poi are great. Only problem is that the "motherboard" or whatever it is, that transmits the signal from the on/off button to the lights and tells them what to do, went bad in one of them after only a few months of (very inconsistent) use. I had probably used the poi about 20 times when one of them stopped turning off. The only way to turn it off now is to take the batteries out, or shove a piece of plastic in between two of the batteries to interrupt the current. The light is stuck on red so I can't change colors, nor does it do the color cycling. So the poi are still functional (kinda) but I'm definitely wondering if I shouldn't have just spent the money on the really expensive ones? This is now the third pair of $20 - 30 poi I've owned, so maybe I should have just bought the $90 poi to start with and I wouldn't have had to buy three (well, four, if I replace these!) pair in less than 3 years...

Works great for me! At least from a beginner's perspective, I find them to be a great option!
Coming from a poi beginner and expert of yoyos, I've been pretty dang satisfied with the poi universe poi. It seemed like a great option for trying poi out and it really appeals to someone like me who loves it when things glow or light up. So far I have had a lot of success with them and I'm just getting started.Good things:Price - most of my 30 ish yoyos cost 80-125 dollars EACH. These poi seem like a great price to me.Lights - the lights make it a lot more fun and really enhance the visual aspect of poi with them.Function - they work. I really like the material they are made out of. It really reduces the likelihood that they will damage anything when they hit something, OR that they themselves will be damaged. I think they work fantastically.Shipping was a lot faster than I expected by the way, so there's another good thing.Questionable thing:The only real thing I'm not too sure what to think about is how the poi are attached to the string thing. When the pair came to me, they were different lengths and I had a bit of difficulty trying to get them to be not only the same length, but also feeling good about how they are tied/attached to the metal rings. My intuition tells me there's a much better way to do it than how these poi have it, but it's worked out so far and I haven't had anything break or become unusable.

Perfect first poi
I've tried numerous LED (and fire) poi over the years, and I'm confident these are the best design yet.Pros:-LED assembly is housed inside the soft plastic shell but not attached, so it doesn't get jarred with every impact - should last much longer than the alternatives, especially for a learner.-Ring attachment point is connected to housing, not shell, fixing a weak point in previous designs.-Cord length easily adjustable.Cons:-Cord is very thin, but this is easily fixed.-Very light weight - hurts less, but will take adjusting to move up to fire poi.Bottom line:Great poi for beginners or performers who want a solid, reliable light toy that won't hurt too much.

Excellent beginner set for a cheap price. You get what you pay for and more.
There are 4 major things I look for in any type of LED poi:DURABILITY - these are extremely durable and don't hurt when you smack yourself which is great for beginners.TETHER DESIGN- could be better honestly, orbitals/air wraps don't work as well. although they don't tangle as badly or as easily as you'd expectGRIP- love the 2 finger grip but that's really just preference. I also am not a big fan of swivels so thats a plus as far as im concernedAND LED FUNCTIONALITY. really reliable there, almost never turn out on their own, and the available color settings are nice in my opinionAll in all these are a nice set for the price; most likely more useful to beginners. I have compared them to the poi balls from HOMEOFPOI and the main difference is these are lighter than homeofpoi and do not have swivels. But for much cheaper!!

Great quality lights, worst string ever made.
For real I was so impressed with these for like 30 seconds. It would have been nice to have a set of poi that wasn't made from my socks and two bags of sand, but after spinning with these I went right back to them. The lights themselves are beautiful, very nice colors and the different modes but on a great show. But the way the string was put through the lights with all of the notches, and even the string itself being the material it is, makes it impossible to properly do vortexes and other tricks where the strings collide. It catches almost every time. If you want LED poi, invest in the LED sock poi.
