When my pup was only a few months old she had been quite sick. She dropped her body temp and the vet put her on one of these, so I decided to give it a try and have been using it for several months. I actually place the warmed disk under a furry blanket that she likes to lay on. I heat it about every 8 hours. At first, it took some time to learn how long to heat it. My microwave, though 1200 watts, takes longer than directed. Although the product instructs not to reheat it while still warm. That wasn’t practical, because as it cools through the day there comes a time where it’s warm, but not warm enough. I have carefully learned how long it needs to be microwaved when it is cooled too much. Someone commented that the disk gets way too hot. That hasn’t been my experience. I do make it quite hot. I didn’t want anything electric, so I chose this and I absolutely LOVE it! I place it under a paper towel and a hand towel and the heat comes through perfectly. I put it in the microwave for 5 minutes at 9:30 pm and wait 2 minutes before taking it out, I wrap it In the holder and put it in the crate. At 9:30 am it’s still warm - true to its description.
