Sewing School ยฎ: 21 Sewing Projects Kids Will Love to Make
My granddaughter wanted to start sewing. I bought this book along with a sewing basket, basic sewing items, and some material for her to get started. I thought this was the perfect book to go along with everything. She loved it!!

We still use it two years later
I gave this to my daughter for her birthday when she turned 7. She just turned 9 a few weeks ago and still uses it. It is a great little fount of ideas and techniques. It has helped me to instruct her too (for example, knowing what kind of materials to get).

Wonderful beginners book
We have loved this book. I do not sew but my 10 year old daughter has shown interest. I purchased this book for her and she was able to take off with sewing. It is so simple to understand and seems to cover all the important steps to hand sewing. It also comes with patterns! We were able to make several things in the first weekend. We've owned this book for over a year now and my daughter still comes back to look at it and even makes things with friends. Highly recommend!

Paper pattern pieces were not included as promised in book.
The Book is well written and my 10 year old granddaughter has worked hard on the some of the projects. With some help the 6 year old is following her lead and has made Mr. Mustachio. It was a disappointment for me as the grandmother to learn that there were never any pattern pieces in the book; The envelope to hold the patterns was open when they received the book on delivery.

Good for children and adults
A really good book that kids can use or parents or teachers can use to help children learn to sew. There's not much use teaching only how to use a sewing machine as many sewing tasks including mending, hemming, and sewing on buttons will require some skill at hand sewing and this book teaches those skills. Very clear instructions that build skills in a logical order and allow children to learn how to sew and also make things at the same time. Two drawbacks in the book for me are 1) the use of synthetic felt which only sets up children to create cheap looking items and 2) sewing is taught as something to play at rather than as a real-life useful skill. While I'm all for having fun while creating, there are real skills to be learned and the attitude of just having fun contributes to the problems children have thinking they have to be entertained by everything that comes their way or it has no value. Luckily, I am hoping this attitude is offset by the lovely comments actual children have included that show their pride in learning and in making something new. Also the projects are rather infantile. I could sew better after one lesson from my grandmother. Children can sew much nicer projects with the skills they learn here than are presented. Even so the lessons and presentation order and advice to help children is really excellent. The photos are lovely and instructions very easy to follow. Very nice book if you are an older child who wants to learn to sew or a parent, teacher, counselor, auntie, or otherwise would like to introduce children to sewing.

A gift that's created a monster.
I got this for my coworkerโs 5 year old and she has absolutely loves it.The patterns are super easy and she does them when her grandma. Only problem is now that sheโs really taking off with it and keeps on wanting to create more.Iโve created a monster with very minimal effort.โWelcome to the wonderful world of crafting, lil one.โ

This is perfect for any child that is interested in making things
This is perfect for any child that is interested in making things. Yes it is American and therefore the directions are in inches not centimetres but it is a wonderful introduction to sewing and how to deal with patterns. The patterns are supplied in a 'pocket' in the inside of the back page. Very clever and clear patterns for 5 years and upwards making small toys by hand sewing to making useful items with a sewing machine e.g a skirt or an apron or cushions etc. Illustrations make everything very clear and work by children also making these things are shown. So the work does look home made and original.Cutting the patterns is so well shown. Very difficult to find such a great introduction for children on dealing with patterns and cutting out material and learning the basics in such an exciting way.

Spiral bound so easy for children to use
We bought this a part of a Xmas gift for a young friend who is learning to sew. The spiral binding means she can turn a page and it goes flat so very easy to continue to read. The projects look interesting and achievable
