A great reference.
The Occult Encyclopedia of Magic Squares by Nineveh Shadrach is exactly what it says it is. A book of magick squares. Here’s the thing about this book — it’s a reference book for working magicians. I don’t see it being useful for dabblers or those who have a mild curiosity. If you’re looking for something to teach you how to make or work with magick squares – this book isn’t it. You need to go someplace else to get that foundational knowledge. Once you have it – this book is a wonderful reference! I’ve particularly enjoyed working through (i.e. both studying and using) the squares of Cancer (my sun sign). What amuses me is so many people bitch about how there aren’t any books for intermediate to advanced magick students out there. Yet books like this crop up and these same people complain that books like this don’t handhold enough. Pick one! Clearly this book of magick squares was put together by someone who knows a magick square from a hole in the ground. Clearly a lot of the negative reviews of this book (the whole reason I decided to pick it up) were written by folks who have no clue what the book actually is or how to use it.This book gives the math geek in me a geek-asm. It’s also super handy for sigil making (if you’re versed in how to make sigils from magick squares). Now mind you that actual spirit name kamea (written in actual letters with numbered attributes) are more to my creative liking. However – there’s something to be said about numbers. They’re consistent.I have to admit that I’m completely looking forward to volume II of this book. I consider Volume I a reference magicians should have on their bookshelves. Is this book the beginning and end all of books about kamea? Probably not. Is it the most complete reference ever? Probably not (magic squares are a pretty broad topic). But it will always have a place on my bookshelf.

Magical and Powerful!
For those who are seeking a step-by-step, how-to guide on the creation of kamea (magical squares), this is not your book...however, for those who are seeking an ultimate guide and magnificent reference to hundreds of kamea with a bit of rare and helpful information, this is your book! I cannot wait until the next volumes in this series become available... and hope that they will be as much a treasure as this book is. I highly recommend this book, and deeply thank the author for writing it.

It's a good book if a person is into those kind of magic squares, but it didn't include the magic squares that I was interested in learning.

System within a System
Finally, some in-depth commentary about easily one of the most glaring omissions and unsettling issues in all of magical literature. Who hasn't wondered where the "other squares" for the classic seven planets may be found? Yet nobody is writing on the point, and many people don't even know what you're talking about if you bring it up.On one hand, the material seems to be slightly incomplete, in that some details are barely touched upon, and others are simply not present. However, the value of the content is still quite high, because a serious practitioner is going to identify one, and probably multiple, subsystems within this work, all based upon numerological, planetary, and elementary fundamentals, that lead to some potent discoveries and successes. I highly, highly recommend this book for the library of any serious magician.

Fundamental Source for Magic Squares
This book is what it claims to be and then some! It is absolutely overflowing with magic squares that would take the average practitioner a lifetime to calculate and catalog. The squares that are given to the magician in this book are priceless and their usefulness instantly apparent. Need a specific outcome? Know the name of the spirit/angel you want to work with? Look up the square and create your talisman specifically designed for that one entity. No need to cloud your rituals with broad unfocused energies. The Encyclopedia even begins with a ritual for creating a talisman which could be used as a blank template for creating any Magic Square Talisman if you had no other reference from which to draw.Anyone that has been practicing magic for any length of time has undoubtedly run across a few rituals for creating talismans and squares. If not, there a few good step by step rituals in Love Healing Prosperity Through Occult Powers of the Alphabet by Shadrach as well and in the books mentioned in the review by Sayed.Even Britannica explains HOW magicians derived squares. Having these squares already completed for you is a Godsend.
