I keep these in my gift list, every time I give them I get good reviews, so I'm giving a good review now. I'm a sock freak myself so I can heartily recommend.

My husband and I went to Scotland and the research we did nudged us to consider warm clothing, especially wool socks, rain jacket, and walkable rain boots. Well, the research wasn't wrong. My husband didn't think we would need wool socks but he too is also glad I purchased some for him. Not only is the purchase colorful, it gave me variety to wear during the winter seasons in Chicago. Great purchase!

I bought these to wear with my Danskos since they are supposed to be thicker and I hopefully wouldn’t have to wear double socks as I’ve had to in the past with Danskos. They aren’t as thick as my other Nordic socks but these are thick enough that my Danskos don’t slide around or chafe. So mission accomplished. I’m happy with these and the price for the pack.

My concern buying these was that they would be too thick to be comfortable in shoes. Nope. Not an issue. They are regular sock thin. And the patterns are not as blurred as they would be if they were thicker.But, you ask, are they warm?The day I first wore them, for unknown reasons, my feet were freezing. I decided to experiment, took off one sock, and put on one thin sock of unknown material, with opossums on it.Result: Both feet stayed the same temperature, no observable difference.But, you ask, are they wool?I hand washed them, as they suggest, and that wet-dog wool smell came up (do wet sheep smell like that?), so yes, wool.I might add the texture is a little rough, or at least un-smooth, but I have very tender feet, and am not bothered by it.I like them, though, and am wearing a pair as I write. The toe-box size is EXCELLENT, will not constrict your toes, and the patterns are pleasing. For the money, they're just fine.
