iBeacon i5 Long Battery-Life Bluetooth LE 4.0 Programmable Beacon

I am using these beacons for detection by my Geofence program (Locative) to facilitate home automation. You receive the beacons in a bag with a small business card printed with a web pointer to digitalsocialretail's startup site. The digitalsocialretail startup site is obviously pushing their subscription retail package, in which I have no interest and is not helpful in just simply setting up the beacons. Two stars are lost because the customer setup procedure is so bad and not documented.They came out of the envelope with the batteries installed, but not responsive or doing anything. I popped the back off the unit. Nothing obvious, but there is a little button on the PCB. Pressed it, no response. Pressed it and held it for 10 seconds or so, and a blue LED flashed twice went off and that was it. Well OK, I guess it must be ON now.After a bit of web poking I got directed to the BeaconSet application for iPad or iPhone. All I need to do is set up two beacons, dump the UUID and set the range of the devices. The password is: minew123.Now that they are running they seem to work fine and the batteries are the largest "coin cell" type I have ever seen. They are big ol' honkers so I am hoping they last a long time without needing attention. So far so good.This may ultimately end up being a 5-star product, but I was about two minutes from packing them up and sending them back because no where is there an instruction for how to turn them on and I had to poke to find out how to configure them.
