Great songs.
Really helped improve my own renditions, especially on the tricky parts.

So-so. Depends what you're looking for.
In general, I buy these kinds of things mostly for their backing tracks. If you learn a song, your band might not always be there when you want to play it. Or you may just want to play on your own. Backing tracks are awesome for this.Unfortunately, this book does not have any. It has tracks that include all instruments. Not sure why I'd need that when I have the original song.It also has a track for "the solo" of each song, including a slowly played version. Well, if you play guitar you know it's not that simple. Most of the time there's not one solo. There are riffs throughout the song and if you want to accurately cover a song, you have to know how to play all those riffs. In my case I wanted to learn all I could about "Black Friday" (for starters). I was disappointed that there were NO block diagrams showing the chord voicings (Seriously?? Yep.). Knowing the name of a chord is not enough to cover a song. There are many ways to voice the same chord and that decision has a huge impact on how the song sounds. So, this is a big shortcoming. And having the tab for ONE solo run is pretty lame. If you're an experienced guitarist who knows his fretboard, you can extrapolate from one solo using scales to figure out what the other riffs are. But, the point of buying a book like this is NOT TO HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT.So, it doesn't suck, but it's definitely not what I would normally want.

Comprehensive - Super helpful
They really take it step by step. These are complex songs. Really rewarding to build your knowledge about these songs. They're challenging for sure but the outcome is awesome.

worth buying
this book has good and accurate transcriptions, but the song selection is pretty poor, so many better guitar based songs that they could of gone for here. only took two songs from the royal scam and they took the wrong two songs-kid charlemagne and dont take me alive would not have been my choice from an album that has some of the best guitar playing from that decade. also songs like gaucho and time out of mind, why? it must of been something to do with costing less money for the publishing? i dont know, any true steely dan guitar freak would agree.also i dont like how they broke up the songs into seperate parts, i mean this music is quite complex and not for someone who is just learning the guitar, why not just give us the whole song straight through like it should be, not fractured into bits. otherwise its good and gave me insight into some frankly quite scary guitar work.songs:cant buy a thrill, reeling in the years, Bodhisattva, Rikki, Black friday, kid charl, dont take me alive, aja, peg, josie, gaucho, time out of mind.

Look closely before you buy
This book is way beyond my skill level so it wasn't a smart purchase on my part but I can't blame the seller for that.

Highly Recommended!
I am very impressed with the accuracy of the transcriptions in this book! The companion CD is also very useful as it slows down the lead guitar work which really helps us players nail those solo's. I would have given the book 5 stars if I could have picked the songlist. I would love to have seen a transcription of say "Change of the Guard" or "Midnight Cruiser" in the place of say "Gaucho" or "Aja" which in my opinion are not as guitar oriented as other tracks included here, of course that is only my opinion and many people may buy this book for those very songs! This book is very well done and for me the Larry Carlton tracks alone were worth the price of admission. Not for beginners! ML

Steely Dan
This is the best Steely Dan solo's transcription I've encountered so far, and I've seen a great deal. The transcription are very accurate and there is considerable information about the technical of each solo including recommendations about the best guitar and amp settings. But for me the best part of this book is having recordings of solos both slowed down and speeded up.Steely Dan guitar solos are often characterised by rhythmic displacements and key changes which are difficult to assimilate when these are played up to speed. Unlike rock players who improvise around one scale or mode, Steely Dan guitar solos play through the changes in the same way as jazz and be-bop players. This book will help you to play in that style.

I love this book
I love this book. It's exactly what I was looking for. As a guitar player, I don't always want to learn whole songs but I'm always ready to learn new riffs. This book has a lot of the riffs from SD that I was looking for. If you want to learn whole songs, this book may not be for you, but if you want to practice some of Elliot Randall's stuff, and Skunk Baxter, I would recommend it. The tab is precise and great for us illiterate musicians that play by ear instead of eye.

ギターパートに特化した楽譜です
収録曲はReeling in the yearsBodhisattvaRikki don't lose that numberBlack fridayKid charlemagneDon't take me aliveAjaPegJosieGauchoTime out of mind曲毎にイントロからヴァース、コーラス、ソロ部分と分割し、ギターパートの美味しいところをタブ譜付きでおさえてます。
