So much better than wood brackets.
I ordered these Curtain Rod Bracket, Heavy Duty Curtain Rod Hooks because the large wood brackets that came with the rod had loosened up 3 times and the rod was hanging down. Each time the rod and curtains had to be removed and the brackets installed with another type of hardware, only to fall again. These heavy-duty curtain rod brackets are made of steel and they fasten right to the wall with the screws not needing to go through a thick piece of wood first. I'm very happy to say that the rod and curtains have been up now for about a year with no problems, even with opening and closing the curtains every evening and morning. Without a doubt, if I'm hanging curtains again, I will forego any detailed or wooden brackets and go right for what works!

Durable
I moved from an apartment a few years ago and forgot to remove the brackets that came with my curtain rods so I bought out a set to hang the curtains in my bedroom. They fit the rods perfectly, they’re strong. Still going strong after 3 years.

These brackets worked great! They are reasonably priced and sturdy/strong.

Held heavyweight curtains with no sagging
Used strong drywall anchors (not the screws/anchors that came included), blackout curtains are very wide and heavy, and there is no sagging (the brackets that came with the rod had a a lot of sagging so we replaced the brackets only and they are now holding up).
