For it's price it's a great shirt for the ren faire especially if you need it last minute. Material is thicker but is comfortable and breathes. The sizes are pretty accurate as I wear large shirts and that's what I bought. The color is good too

Other reviewers stated that the metal grommets which the lace runs through catch chest hair. I found that to be true for me also. However, I used a wire wheel (could use a dremel wire wheel, an emory board, or a nail file also) to dull the sharp corners and it worked great without issue. I am borderline 2XL or XL, and ordered this 2XL and had comfortable room. The sleeves were a little long for me, but when buttoned or rolled, they looked great and functioned as expected. I would buy this again and recommend it to others.

I bought this along with the Karlywindow Men's Medieval Lace Up Pirate Mercenary Scottish Wide Cuff Shirt Costume. The other shirt had nicer eye-holes for the laces and a fairly nice set of fabric laces, but was very thin and flimsy material and short in the tail but long in the sleeves. As a costume shirt, it was ok. This shirt had a nice thick, sturdy fabric, very akin to a strong weave dress shirt. The sleeves were a little long, but good room in the chest and stomach areas. I wear an XXL t-shirt and that's the size I ordered and was generally happy with the fit. The cord is a nice leather, but like others have said, it's wound a bit tightly. I dunked it in water and just stretched it with my hands, then dried it with a towel, all of maybe 30 seconds all together, and it became very pliable and worked perfectly in the shirt. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and returning the other shirt.

Excellent quality material, very nice shirt. String is proper leather. Size seems pretty true, but I’d recommend going up one size for the proper loose fit. I didn’t, and I now I’m going up from L to XL.Great value for a great shirt that is perfect for kilt wear, pirate attire, or cosplay.

The shirt was a little too large for my taste, but that may just be a personal preference for myself. The only true downside (and the main reason I returned the shirt) is that the eyelets are not "finished" where the laces go on the chest. They have sharp edges sticking off of them that WILL grab and rip out your chest hair. I was scared taking the shirt off because I didn't want it to rip out my head hair.It's otherwise a nice quality shirt, but do beware of this problem if you choose to order

I got this shirt for a costume, as I just can't be bothered to make one from scratch. Lucky enough, this is the same material I have for another piece, so it ties in with the rest of the costume nicely.While I am not wearing it with the rest of its intended clothing (though I am half Scottish from my Dad's side) it does fit nicely.The fabric was rough straight out of the box, but running it through the wash with other black fabrics seems to have softened it up. My only complaint is that the leather strip mine came with is really stiff, and doesn't want to play well with the grommets in the shirt. I have some spare lacing, though, which fits just as well.Overall, I like the good, sturdy quality of it, even though it may need to be run through the wash with liberal amounts of fabric softener so you don't get rugburn wearing it. There's not anything to find a long-term fault in.

My husband got this shirt for a party (Romantic Pirate was what he was going for. He wore this with a vest). He's a size 42 and the L is a perfect fit. The fabric is soft and thick (no need for undershirt), but it's about 2-3x thicker than normal dress shirt. The shirt looks very high quality and the laces are leather. In person and up close, looks expensive. Our only compliant is the metal rivets used for th holes for the laces on the inside are not smooth, so it scratches your skin. That's why 4 stars. But we just took a nail file and smoothed the edges down, problem solved. My husband got so many compliments from others at the party. Would buy again.
