What grit to use to remove a scratch from a magnifying glass?

I would not use sandpaper - try using toothpaste, or maybe baking soda - not sandpaper

Will this buff inbetween coats of paint for cabinets without scratches?

Short answer is yes. But IF you are doing wood cabinets, applying common latex or oil based paint with a brush probably 600 is too fine a grit. The paper would constantly clog and probably pill making a lousy finish no matter how hard you work. Lightly sanding between coats by hand with 220 grit should give a better result. If metal, fiberglass ect with a spray paint system is the job then consider a fine grit such as 600 or more.

I know this may be an odd question, but would this be a suitable grit to strike matches against?

Cooper No it’s to fine of a grit 150 grit would be better yet the strike paper on a box of matches is a difference substance on the surface. I’d say give it a try on standard 150 grit. Not the purple sandpaper . It’s cheaper too. Hope this helps Bc
