Works great for one room, even in a humid Alabama June. I love the white noise too.
Works great and SUPER easy to install. And yes it makes noise, but it's not more noisy than any window A/C unit I've ever heard. I actually like the white noise so that's a plus for me. Since it's on wheels you can direct the cold air to blow right on you if you want to. I'm using this thing in a guest house with no insulation. Even with the outside temperature around 85', I was cold last night with this next to me. My only complaint is that I do live in a very humid place (Alabama, June) and I have to drain the unit at least once a day, which is easy to do, but is a little bit of a pain. Since I was apprehensive about this part, I'll explain how it works. It's very easy. When it's full of water, it stops running, and flashes a "full" code. To fix that you just unscrew the cap on the back at the bottom of the unit, then pull out the plastic plug, and then water will spill on the floor unless you have a towel or a tray ready to catch it. I suppose you could set up a drain line, but I don't have a way to do that. I've been just draining it out onto a towel and putting it outside to dry, but it would be nice if there were a more elegant solution offered by Haier, like a small tray to catch the water to empty it. A cookie sheet might work? Even with the draining issue, I love this thing and bought a second one for another room.

Small and super easy to set up
My house does not have central air and it was getting hot at night. I have one small AC unit in the dining room/living room vented out the window but I really needed something in my bedroom. However, it was not practical to vent anything out my bedroom window, and I donโt like sleeping with air-conditioning on my face if I got a window unit. I set this portable AC up in about 15 minutes and vented it through my heat vent. The foam padding strips that were included, and the extra slats for venting out windows, and lots of tape, itโs working nicely! I am able to feel the warm air getting vented into my basement, which is naturally cool and has a dehumidifier running. This unit is small enough that it doesn't take up too much space in my little bedroom, lightweight that I was able to take it out of the box by myself (it was pretty much ready to go- just attached the vent tube and plugged it in), and the remote and controls are intuitive enough that I didn't really need the instruction manual. It is slightly louder than my other portable 8000BTU AC unit, but it's not a distraction and not noticeable.

Keeps things cool
Great little product and for the right price, especially since I cannot have a standard a/c in my studio apartment. It makes the same amount of noise as a standard a/c and does not take up much space. It comes with the window installation kit. However, because of the actually design of my window frame I ended up having to duct tape the slides/slats into the window frame instead of screwing them in. The assembly instructions need a little work, but I was able to put everything together all by myself. By the way the a/c is heavy so getting it out of the box was tricky. The best thing is that it comes with a internal drainage tank. I've had it since the start of summer and have not had to empty the tank at all. The not so great thing is that if it is 90 degrees outside, the coolest it will get the apartment is 76-77 degrees. Which is still good considering it is cooling the whole apartment and my apartment is situated directly over the boiler in the basement so there is always heat coming up through the flooring.

Cools well & is relatively quiet...
This little unit cools well and is quieter than my last window air conditioner was. Iโm not sure I'd trust it to cool off anything larger than a fairly small bedroom, but at 8000BTUโs itโs not really meant to. The installation instructions werenโt very clear/detailed. That said, Iโm no handy-woman and it only took me about 40 minutes of trial and error to get it all figured out, it definitely took some patience though. The instructions really need to be rewritten. It transitions from one mode to another very smoothly, the controls are straightforward, and the remote is easy to use. Itโs not whisper quiet but itโs not too much louder than a large fan. So far Iโm really happy with it and would recommend it to any friends who are looking for a good little a/c unit.

Piece of Junk
I try never to write bad reviews but I have to this time. I ordered this air conditioner and when I plugged it in it started making a loud noise like the fan was broken. I immediately sent it back and giving them the benefit of the doubt that this may have been thrown around too much in delivery I ordered another one, no bad review. I received the second one and plugged it in when I received it and no loud noise, but that was the only good news. This AC unit is useless! It does not cool my tiny 10 x 10 room at all. It is like I just bought an expensive fan, no ac just fan. I would advise not to buy this air conditioner.

Noisy
Cools ok as long as itโs one room . however , the unit is noisy , was hoping I could shut my main a/c off at night and just run this in the master bedroom. After a few hours of no sleep , shut it off and went back to central air . Will keep it for emergencies when the power is down ... will run off my 2000 watt generator and at least keep a room cool in the summer heat.

Great air conditioner for decent price....
Works great! Pretty easy to install/use. Immediately sucks the hot air out of the room & cools down quickly. Have been using mine almost everyday for 2 months & still have not had to empty water, in case that is something you are worried about having to do often.....Not really quiet but just sounds like a loud fan. Would definitely buy again!

Cools great
Wow this came at such a time when the temperature went up to 100 out side. A welcome relief to the heat. Was easy to put up in window, with a little modification, was a bit heavier than expected but can manage ( I'm a petite woman) the hose is a bit stiff and a bit short, but again better than what I had, which was a fan. So far it's working great. I like I can program when I'm not at home, and just before I get home, time it to come on. Nice.

Great unit for my Mini-van camper.
A wonderful unit that can easily be converted to a dual exhaust. Cools great and it shuts completely off when temp is reached. Has a small footprint and is very well designed. Shipping was extremely fast and would recommend it for sure. Yes it has a remote and no need to empty water if using only the cool setting and if the humidity is not way high. I am going to permanently install it in my Mini-van camper. It is not heavy and the noise level is great for an all in one unit. Thx Seller...thx Amazon.

Gets the job done
A one hose AC unit almost functions as an air vacuum. It sucks in the air from inside, blows some of it out the home and blows some backin as cold air. Meaning that if your entire house is hot and youre just trying to cool one room, the hot air in the rest of your home WILL get drawn into the room as well, negating the cooling ability. For me, this doesnt matter. I spend most of my time on the 3rd floor of my house where all the hot air accumulates (hot air rises) because of lack of ventilation, but the rest of the floors are nice and cool because of the central A/C. So really, even without turning on the cooling option and just using the fan, as long as it blows all the hot air that has pooled up on the floor out of the house, it works for me. If the rest of your home is a reasonable temperature except one room, get this or any single hose unit. If your entire place is hot, get a dual hose unit so it uses air from the outside to cool the house rather than sucking up all of your air and blowing it out. My ONLY gripe...is that for some reason using the fan only option is louder than using the cooling+fan option. Which doesnt make sense to me.

Shipped to me in Days and Got me through a Heat Wave
This portable air conditioner arrived within days of ordering, in perfect condition. It was easy to install (thanks to my Dad) and it cooled off my room immediately. It arrived during a heatwave and dropped the temp in my room from 80 to 69 so quickly. I was a little confused when it shut itself off, because I didn't realize it had a thermostat and when it reaches the set temp it shuts off, and when the temp rises it turns back on again. It's a great machine, and I hope it will last. My ONLY concern is that the piece that connects the exhaust hose to the window has no screen on the back, and a bird tried to fly in the hose when the machine was off. It left again, but there is nothing to stop anything from entering, including rain. I'm hoping the exhaust hose won't fill up with rain . I think there should be a hood and a mesh cover on the thing that connects the hose to the window.

Great unit with a Design Flaw
I'm really happy with this purchase. I'm using it in a 600sqf single room apartment and was very aware it wasn't going to cool my entire flat, but when it's not super hot outside (under 27 degrees), it keeps the temperature around 23 degrees. When it gets hotter than that, it's not strong enough to keep up with the hot air coming in from outside (in this case my bathroom and oven exhausts), so I use it as a frosty fan for my dog and I. Either way, it does exactly what it's suppose to, and I'm much happier with it than I would be without. Design Flaw - there are two intakes on the back of this unit; one at the top for the air being re-circulated, and one at the bottom for air that is passed over the condenser and exhausted outside. The intake at the top has a washable filter (which works quite well), but the intake at the bottom only has a plastic grill that protects the condenser. I have a dog that sheds quite a bit so I was washing the top filter out diligently, without realizing all of the debris had actually collected on the condenser and behind the grill itself. I had to use a vacuum and a wooden skewer to fish everything out, but when I did, the conditioned air got much, much colder.
