One of THE Best Brand Air Purifiers On the Market
Very good quality, especially for the sale price. It's just the right size for my bathroom and definitely removes dust and odors efficiently making it extremely functional for my application. I bought this to be my second WInix Air Purifier because the first one resides in my bedroom, has been excellent, was a great price and has been super reliable. It's also almost silent and works GREAT! Get this brand with confidence fme.

Terrific purifier
We’ve had this on a dresser in our room for about 3 or 4 years now, running continuously. For most of the time, I’ve had it on the “automatic” setting, which means it generally runs at medium speed, turning up to faster when it senses particulates in the air, then returning to medium. It works VERY well, and has reduced my allergies a great deal. The noise level is quite comfortable for us, but we don’t mind a soft fan sound. There are three manually set regular speeds, low, medium and high. The low speed is quite quiet but still a little louder than the night mode speed. If I switch it to night mode, it falls to whisper quiet, hardly noticeable. We use a genuine Winix filter in it, and replace it about every 9 months or so. Replacement is super easy. It has no weird sounds like another reviewer has mentioned, but runs smoothly and efficiently. We’re completely satisfied and would buy this same one again for certain.

Compact purifier that works efficiently
The WINIX A231 is small in size but very effective. It runs quietly on the lower settings, and even at higher speeds, the noise is reasonable. Within a short time, the air feels fresher, and it noticeably reduces dust and odors in the bedroom. The filter is easy to replace, and the unit doesn’t take up much space, which makes it practical for smaller rooms. Controls are simple, with an auto mode that adjusts to air quality. Great value for the price! Very light but not flimsy!

Very quiet
I like that this has a sleep mode, whereas it is extremely quiet (my fish tank motor is louder) and only the light from the power button is present, which doesn't seem to light up the room but may bother someone who prefers pitch black to sleep. Also, the air smells more crisp and my daughter, who has allergies, has been having far less attacks. It is also light weigh, the filters last forever, it's easy to clean, and you can turn off plasma wave (which I never use because it can be problematic for asthmatics). My only complaint is that I'm not sure how well the air quality sensor works. I've set my son's poopy diaper right next to it and it still said the air quality was good. It also said the air quality was good when I could smell a strong smoke smell from my neighbors burning. However, any time someone is cutting onions in the kitchen, a room away from where the purifier is, it says the air quality is poor to very bad. Other times it randomly says the air quality is poor/bad for no reason discernible to me, and without there being any activities that may have effected the air quality. All in all it does its job and does so very quietly, which is what was most important to me due to having sensory processing issues, especially related to sound. Edit: air quality sensor seems to be working. It's picking up b/o and flatulence. Also, my son has knocked it off the shelf several times and it seems pretty sturdy. The coating on the wire is coming off near the machine. Also, I kept noticing a faint helicopter noise coming from the machine where it does atop a book shelf (not recommended distance from the wall). I was worried it was the fan and quite irritated by the sound. I realized that what was causing it was the slight movement from the fan leading to the wire moving back and forth against the wall where it was pushed between the wall and the shelf. I pulled up more slack and moved the unit out from the wall as much as I could and the sound stopped. Only real complaint : I wish that plasma mode had a lock on it. My kids keep turning it on, which is an issue for the asthma and allergy havers in this house.

Easy setup, nice and quiet
I have only used this last night. I have suffered from allergies this year, and my husband is also getting them. My gf had suggested this brand. I decided to use it last night while we were asleep, in our bedroom. I won't know until I look at the filter, but I was happy that they have a night setting so that the bright lights don't shine, and it is very quiet. So far I am happy about how easy it was to set up, and start. It is small enough to fit on a table in our bedroom, so it doesn't get in the way. Eventually, since we live in SoCal, we will probably need it if there are any fires around us.

Totally worth the investment. Does a great job filtering and it's super quiet.

Nice quality, great brand, looks nice, and good value!
I bought this to have in my bedroom to supplement my other air purifier in my living room which is the Winix C545. That one has been great for 3 years of constant use now with zero problems so I thought I’d stick with Winix for my second purifier. I like the look and size of this new one, perfect for a bedroom. Others weren’t lying about how loud it can be (when compared to the C545, it is quite a bit louder, but think about it- it’s a smaller purifier doing the work of a larger purifier). I keep it on low and it’s fine. High setting is definitely loud, but would be great for people who like to sleep with white noise. It’s not loud enough for me to deduct stars from my review. The air indicator ring light is really nice looking and it does change colors based on air quality quickly (candle smoke, fragrance spray, etc, will all make the air quality light change colors and prompt the fan speed to increase if on auto. It works!) I mostly got this one to help with dog smell and so far I can tell a difference with noticeably fresher smelling air when I come home.

Solid Performer
This has been a really good unit, haven’t had it for a year quite yet but I’m impressed with how quiet it is and does not raise my electric bill! I ended up purchasing one for each of my adult children and my SO.

I bought a Winix 5500-2 about a year ago and was/still am very impressed with it. I decided to stay with Winix and get this smaller version for a medium sized bedroom. The functions are simple like the bigger brother 5500 and it's almost silent on the lower settings. It also has plasmavave. Where it does differ from bigger brother is on the filtration system. Technically it has a carbon "coated" pre filter and the air finally passes through the hepa filter before exiting the purifier tower from the top. On the 5500 the carbon filter is on a totally separate layer or filter medium so there are 3 distinct filter stages that are physically separated from one another. On this smaller version, there is only one filter or in other words it's an all-in-one filter that does 3 jobs. Is it as efficient ? I doubt it but it's probably close. It is of course substantially less expensive and the replacement filters are probably less expensive as well (I haven't checked). I believe it's an excellent choice for a smaller room but if I had money to burn (and I don't), I'd take the 5500-2 over this one even for a smaller room. One more thing of note for some: The A231 looks very nice and modern and will fit in any decor. It looks much nicer than the 5500 which could easily be mistaken for a big heater.

I don't usually write reviews, but please, if you are buying this, it is LOUD. We wanted this in our room, but it is too load, even in sleep mode. There is basically no difference between sleep mode and low mode - they make the same amount of noise! However, it does clean the air quite well.

Primer día que uso, lo puse a prueba con resina para impresión y no percibí su olor, el filtro reconoció el olor antes de que yo lo hiciera
