It actually works...
Over the years I have bought way too much of this kind of product - things that claim to weld aluminum - and have been consistently disappointed. Until now. AlumiWeld actually works! Surprise, surprise! It does not weld aluminum, it solders aluminum, but the joint it makes is almost as strong as a welded joint when you get the hang of it and do it right. Did not expect that. It does take a little work. If your work is just a little too cold you get nothing and then, when the temperature is hot enough, it melts and flows and sticks. If your aluminum is properly cleaned, your pieces fit and you get it hot enough fast enough... BAM! My test piece, when tested: the aluminum base metal failed - not the joint. Nice thing about it compared to welding: it's easy to make a really nice fillet.

Wonderful Product!!
To use correctly you must follow directions. Melting alone is not enough. The actual piece of aluminum needs to be heated to specified temp. Use a temp gauge to get it perfect. Use Map gas, propane works takes longer.. Once is at the temp. Clean once again with a stainless brush only used for this. Start to rub the rod around the area until you get melting. Then fill in the area. After it hardens a little bit put the torch to it again until it reaches that temp again. It's cured!!!!You can also makes dams with this product if you need to fill in a large area. Say on a car piece. My question is. Can I use my Tig torch to braze these fast? If so I will be doing aluminum for the rest of my life!! Thank You!!!

Follow the instructions!
They work perfectly when, you follow the directions! Clean surface throughly, quickly add heat, once desired temperature (+750° <800°) is reached, move the rod back and forth or in a circular motion to remove all oxidized aluminum from the area to be welded. You'll see the dark grey molten stuff slag away and it'll start to turn bright silver. Once that happens, fill your weld and walk away. It won't break, it'll have to be cut. I welded an entire aluminum enclosed trailer together with these. They work great!
