After plenty of research, we selected the large black mortar and pestle set. It has turned out to be better than expected. Our original mortar had a smaller 4" wide bowl. This new one is wider, very heavy and sturdy and grinds more effectively than our last set due to the matched shape of the pestle to the mortar. We also appreciate the two different sized pestle ends on this new set which not only allows us to adjust grinding depending on our need, but will also allow us to continue to use our smaller mortar with the new pestle when desired.Even the included accessories, while unnecessary, turned out to be more useful than expected. The silicon pad replaces various envelopes and pieces of paper we used to avoid scratching our countertop, and it has the added benefit of holding the mortar steady while grinding. The brush, while seemingly silly and, frankly, cheap, is nice to brush out fine grounds.My only critique would be that because the base of the mortar has no foot, the mortar can be hard to hold when tipping herbs into a pot or bowl. However, this does not diminish the product's usefulness, and it is quite a pretty .Finally, I have to give the company credit for the enclosed "thank you" and the complimentary bookmarks. While this, in no way, affects the mortar and pestle, it was an appreciated touch. They seem to take pride in their products.Having used this set regularly for a few weeks, we can definitely recommend it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful and heavy mortar and pestle *by K***I on Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2021* I purchased this mortar and pestle for grinding herbs and spices to fine powder and it does a fantastic job while looking beautiful in my kitchen. The base is solid and heavy so it doesn't move around as I'm using it, the outside is polished and smooth while the inside has a slightly rough unpolished texture to grind against. Both sides of the pestle have a usable unpolished surface also, but are still smooth enough that they're comfortable to hold.
