Interesting book on Early Organized Crim in Detroit
I purchased this book because organized crime interests me and I've read about New York and Chicago, but never Detroit. It was also cool because I currently live in the area where most of this stuff took place. Overall the information is great. The author jumps around the time line and it was hard to keep it straight at times. Overall I would recommend this book to any organized crime nerd.

Maravigghiusu!
This book is an outstanding and long overdue look at the rich and often graphically violent early history of Detroit's Mafia family. A direct descendant of some of the protagonists, Buccellato's impeccable research and writing skills elevate this work to the upper-echelon of American true crime literature. While most gangster books of this era focus on New York and Chicago, EOCD shows that the inner workings of the Detroit family rivaled anything seen in either of those cities. For the first time, the history of the Giannola-Vitale War is examined in depth, as is how the Detroit family evolved into a hard-hitting, nationally respected bootlegging powerhouse. I don't want to give too many spoilers away, but suffice it to say that Dr. Buccellato's work fills a crucial gap in American Mafia history. A must read? Most definitely!
