How do you get the wrinkles out?

Do not attempt the "ironing on top of a kitchen towel" method - I tried this last night, with a pretty thick, wet kitchen towel, and melted the plastic. No damage done, really, since I didn't leave the iron on that long, but the wrinkles are still there. I have no idea how to get rid of them, and they ruin the look of the nicely ironed tablecloth.

Can you machine wash it?

I would not wash it. It is very thin and I doubt that it would survive. Best look for a thicker, heavier weight.
