Katamari Damacy REROLL - PlayStation 4

It has been probably a decade since I played the original Katamari Damacy on PlayStation 2, but if memory serves this is a faithful adaptation and modernization of the game made for the PlayStation 4. The graphics are upgraded for the newer console and look fabulous, and the game is exactly as I remember it in all other aspects. This is a fun, silly game that affords the player the opportunity to have a unique gaming experience, this game and it's sequels are truly like no others. Finally, if you have small kids, this is a game that is suitable for all ages. To be honest, it's designed with kids in mind, so the perspective of an adult's experience playing the game is probably not all that relevant. However, it's clear that it's light-hearted, non-serious nature, it's lack of violence, profanity, and adult content, are all indicative of the fact that this is one of the few games these days suitable for children that is also interesting for adults to play or watch without feeling like the content is mind-numbingly inane or pointless. Despite the fact that the entire experience in the game is rolling up a ball that collects small items to get larger and larger so that it can pick up larger and larger items, eventually reaching sizes as big as the Moon, the gameplay manages to always be exciting to watch. That is quite an accomplishment for a game in which you only ever do one type of activity: rolling a ball that sticks to and picks up and collects things to become bigger and bigger so that it reaches the predetermined goal size by the end of the timer in each level.

I never played the original version on PS2 since I had an Xbox as a kid when this came out and I never had a PS2 after either but the idea and play style always intrigued me. Fast forward about a decade and a half and here we are I have a PS4 Pro and see this has been redone for it and finally give it a try. No regrets, the graphics still look like PS2 but they fit what the game is and don't really need to look like something new to enjoy it at all. Its fun and the soundtrack is what I would say surprised me the most in a good way, I wasn't expecting to like the music so much but its awesome and I don't speak a lick of Japanese but it doesn't matter the music is awesome and I don't need to know whats being said in many of the songs to know its awesome. The game doesn't take too long to beat but its tricky enough that I had to try some of the missions several times, maybe even up to a dozen times in a few cases. So its a good balance of difficulty as well. I did get bored with the game play but by that time came I had already beat it and was just trying to get extra stuff so. BTW I am writing this review long after I beat it, its New Year 2024 (January 1st) and I beat this on December 28,2021 when I was 31, so 2 years and a few days later I am doing this review, but the memory of playing hasn't soured but it also wasn't so long ago I would consider this nostalgia talking at all either.

This is an updated version of one of my all time favorite games. Back when it was originally released for the ps2, I got a used copy of it on a whim simply because the bright, pretty colors on the cover made it stand out. I was in for a very pleasant surprise once I started playing it!This is the most unique game. Everything here is updated and beautifully remastered. The storyline and characters are hilariously great. The music is wonderfully catchy. It is a short game if you just want to play it for the storyline, but don't let that turn you off. It had an abundance of replay value!!! I can play this game for months at a time and never get tired if it!It is easy to get started. But then again, it can get rather difficult if you really want to push yourself to roll up everything you possibly can. That's what gives it such good replay value. Some of the things that you can roll up are absolutely hilarious. It's just a lighthearted, silly game that's just over the top fun!

Very fun and addicting game especially once you get the mechanics/controls down. The campaign is creative and will make you laugh for how ridiculous some of the scenarios you come across are. Just challenging enough to require full focus, but not so much that you'll give up. My only issue is that battle mode feels lacking and it feels like the game ends early. It could definitely use more levels/variations.

I first discovered this game back in 2001 it was on a demo disc in a video game magazine I was the school room level, I was hooked, I now own this game in every format, it is entertaining And good for my hands, it will gobble up loads of time

This game is a remastered version of Katamari Damacy that was released for the PS2. I played the original game when I was a child and playing this remastered version brought back some childhood memories. The gameplay is very simple. I found playing it was so calming and relaxing. The concept of the game is quite strange but I promise you that you'll have fun. When I first played the game on the PS2, I never knew what this game was about until I played it and found it very fun. You roll with the punches and collect different things while you roll to become huge. The soundtrack matches the tone of the game.The game felt shorter then I remembered but then again everything felt long as a child.
