Honestly ...I have a love/hate relationship with flea meds! When they work, I love them but alas, 9 out of 10 they don't work at all! I hate, no I ABHOR shopping for them...trying to decide which one may actually do the job right. And which one will not only do the job, but not cost me an arm and a leg to do so. So I ended up with multiple little rescue kittens. Thanks to too many strays and shelters being overfull I ended up with 9 little beans and 3 mommas. Me being me, I didnt have the heart to ignore them, especially when the noms themselves literally BROUGHT me their precious babies and dropped them one by one on my actual feet! These beans were only 5 weeks old at the time and I spent a lot of time, energy, and finances trying to save, not just save, but make sure they thrived! So when they became about 8 weeks of age, the fleas attacked. And attacked with a vengeance. I needed something that not only would work, but would be safe to use on such precious cargo. I researched a ton before deciding on this one. I chose it because the reviews discussed how well it worked but also how little it seemed to affect the overall health. Seeing that it had vet approval def was also a factor. I have to say I was impressed. Within 24 hours...no 12 hours I noticed dead and dying fleas. Now please do keep in mind that the kittens I used this on only weigh between 1.5 to 2 lbs. in weight. The bare minimum needed to use the product. I did notice a slight odor and product did take quite a while to dry once applied to each kitten. Being so, take care to ensure each pet is not able to be groomed by others until fully dry. Out of 9 kittens only one showed any negative reaction. The one kitten who did have a reaction, was mild. It had a slightly elevated heart beat, some very mild foaming on mouth, and a teeny bit of vomiting of mucous. I immediately wiped as much product off this kitten as quickly as possible, and monitored it. The effects only lasted maybe 5 minutes and then said kitten was back to normal once again with no further negative issues. I applied product during kitten feeding time and not a single kitten seemed to even realize what was going on. Product was very easy to apply and keep in mind the liquid comes out quickly. These poor beans were fully infested by time I applied but when I checked next day, their skin already looked way better and I immediately noticed that their fur seemed pretty much flea free! It has been a few weeks now since application, and kittens are still flea free, no longer scratching nonstop, and going about doing NORMAL kitten things such as roll and tackle, hide and "stalk", "kill" the play mice....all the normal hyper energy kitten fun that keeps us on our toes! The price range on this was a super bonus, eapecially for containg 6 tubes per package. Definitely a value and a life saving cost when one has 9 kittens and 3 moms to contend with. Made it capable to get all of them done in one sweep. Would recommend and will definitely purchase again when needed.

Our Year and half old Russian Bleu had a severe reaction to the product when we applied it to him. Starting with vomiting, foam at the mouth, and what I would describe as a seizure. This lasted approximately 5 minutes in which time we got his carrier and called the number in the back of the package , Which is the Sargent Medical Emergency line. The Veterinarian was extremely helpful, both in triage for the animal as well as calmly the two of us down. The after a few minutes he secluded himself under the bed. After carefully removing him from under the bed, we observed him and answered the Vet’s question. Then we gave him, a few bites of his older sisters wet food and he scarfed it down immediately. After a few more minutes he started be be is old self agin . The Vet , explained what had occurred and asked us for information from the packaging, so it could be entered in a date base and tracked. Within 15 minutes he was back to normal. I am thankful, that number was on the back of the box! I was waiting for the Emergency Veterinary Hospital to answer, and found that Number and call thinking it was poison control. The number is manned 24/7 365 days . Free medical advice/ instructions what ever you want to call it. That’s priceless. But the time we had the carrier and him settled enough to put him in it and go, their was no longer a need at that time. We followed the Instructions to closely monitor it for the day, because of the possibility of another reaction. Fortunately that didn’t happen . We followed up with our regular vet after the weekend and he was fine. Just an allergic reaction to Fipronil, which is apparently very unusual, Our vet says it is one of the safest flea and ticks medications in the market.. But not for Chairman Meow. The product works great, our other cat Kitty was fine and has never had a reaction of any kind, and zero fleas and she is 14. In the end, I would definitely recommend the product, but I would consult your Veterinarian first as was originally intended when this product was bought to market. We do not use any products currently, because the primary reason we did previously is that I am the one allergic to flea bites, not so much the cats. Everyone needs to write the number off the back of the box. It’s could be a life saver, if nothing else it could say you 3 to 4 hundred dollars at the Emergency Vet , like it did me.. My cat is a magnet for ticks. Usually he carries in a min of 5 a week. Fleas, of course. I did notice he brought way less ticks. Maybe 1 a week. For fleas, iffy. However, after a couple uses. I did notice a bit hair loss in the area of his back. It wasn't super worrisome, I don't think this is something every cat owner has to worry about. This one just isn't for him.

This product works very well but as with ALL flea medications, you also have to clean the pet’s environment for quickest results!! I’m a Vet Tech and this is the same active ingredient that’s in the original basic Frontline. This particular Sentry product will not kill eggs and larva, just adult fleas! Any Vet worth their salt will tell clients that they need to clean the home along with using a topical treatment. Live adult fleas are only a small percentage of your total flea population. Eggs and larva will be on your pets as well as on floors, in carpets, bedding, and all soft surfaces where your pet spends time. Vacuum several times a week (then empty your vacuum container afterwards and throw the stuff away outside every time!) Wash soft surfaces (bedding, pillows blankets, toys) and wet clean your hard floors. This will greatly cut down your flea population when you’re using topical treatments and will lessen your pet’s discomfort as well as decreasing the number of applications you need for your pet. I’ve been using this product for my cats (indoor and outdoor) and the dog Sentry product for my dogs for several years with great success. We have outdoor barn cats that bring fleas to the back yard from time to time and this product along with a little extra cleaning solves the problem quickly. Yes you will see fleas emerging after applying it (those fleas are dying) within hours. You can safely bathe your cats 48 hours after applying if you’re brave enough to give your cat a bath! 😄 Our 3 indoor senior cats (age 15) all get Sentry applied and do great with no issues whatsoever. Just apply it at the base of the head and neck area right on the skin (not on the hair) where they can’t lick it off. It’s much more economical than the big name products and will work just as well. We don’t treat year-round as a preventative because we have 4 children who pet and snuggle with our pets often and I prefer not to have chemicals on our animals unless it’s necessary. So when we get the occasional flea outbreak this is my go-to!

I have 2 stray cats that I take care of and have been giving them flea medication since about 4 months ago. The first medication was the cheaper made in USA 3 pack that I forgot the name of. It seemed to have worked but only one cat wasn't allergic to it. It burned the fur off the other cat so I stopped giving her that medication. But at least neither of them were itching, and this is prime mosquito season right now. During the month that I was giving them that medication neither of them were scratching themselves and no mosquitos were bothering them. Eventually I ran out of that one so I decided to get this one hoping it wouldn't have a bad reaction on that one cat, which it didn't. But it also didn't stop any of the scratching on either cats AT ALL. If anything the scratching is the same if not worse and there are mosquitos flying around them all the time. Now maybe this one doesn't have mosquito repellent and the other one did, yet this is one pricier, and they're still scratching themselves like no other so clearly I can only come to the conclusion that this stuff is bunk. No way am I wasting my money on this again. I guess I'll continue giving the other medication to one of the cats and find another medication for the other one because this is not it.

My dog brought in some fleas, and while we had treatments for him, we didn't have anything for our new feline companion. Figured I'd give this a go since it's so cheaply priced. I've always heard "you get what you pay for" and that's definitely the case here. It's been 2 weeks since application and my kitten still has fleas. There's been a definite decrease in the number I've found, but it certainly doesn't kill them all quickly. We've washed all bedding, sprayed down furniture, deep cleaned the pet beds, shampooed the carpets... in short we've done all the proper steps to get rid of fleas, but that's only going to take us so far if the fleas on the kitten won't die. Opening the ointment tubes will require scissors. Will update at the 1 month mark. UPDATE: it's been over a month since I reviewed. I ended up applying the next dose at week 3 instead of week 4 because I saw no major improvement. It took another 3 weeks for the fleas to die off. So end verdict: works but insanely slow. Follow up doses a good idea

Sentry with Fiprogaurd for cats is my go to every spring. Here in Florida. My 3 cats are in and out of house all day. I keep the yard dusted also. But I have not seen an itch or a tick on my short haired cats. No odor. No hair loss. Kitties seem happy

A feral cat I've been tending to had a severe case of fleas. I haven't had cats of my own since the 90's, so my only experience for flea treatment for cats has been flea powders and flea collars previously. I got these drops and they worked overnight, I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe she was seemingly flea free the next day -- I could no longer feel the flea poo when I petted her and she got her old docile personality back. This is a semi-feral that I am actually able to touch, but touch is limited - for example I cannot pick her up and have never dared try to restrain her yet. I can pet her generously on her head and back and she eats out of a bowl of food while my hand is still holding the bowl and I can touch her while she eats. I share all this detail for anyone else caring for ferals and trying to decide if they think they can actually get this substance on their respective feral or not. I did set the flea dropper on the ground first and let her check it out, after which I used it as a "brush" to pet her with, so she was quite desensitized to the dropper before I actually snipped off the tip to apply the liquid. A puff of air came out first, briefly startling my feral and she gave me a surprised, dirty scowl. In addition, she is agile enough that she was able to apply her tongue to the exact spot I squirted the drop - a real bummer. I worried for 24 hours she might be poisoned, but she never showed any symptoms of malady thankfully. I will apply the drop to the back of her head next time, to be sure she cannot lick it directly. A summary of my tips below: Feral tips: 1) desensitize the cat to look and feel of the dropper first. 2), be forewarned that a puff of air may come out before the liquid does, startling the feral briefly or possibly eternally, 3) consider applying the liquid high on the nape of the neck so they can't turn around like an owl and lick it all up. Also, just because I had a great result with no side effects, doesn't mean you shouldn't consider the other negative reviews here. Pets do respond differently to different medications, and sometimes manufacturers have a bad batch of substances. So of course use caution and understand it's always a risk. In my case, she is an outdoor feral and full of fleas, so I had to do SOMETHING and applying powder or a collar were ruled out due to the difficulty since she's feral. Drops were a quick, get in, get out, procedure that worked.
