Tara Smith Base Coat Serum

I love this product. I got a sample in vegan cuts and fell in love with this. It makes doing my curly frizzy hair so much easier. I can put a small amount of this in and it makes a huge difference. I can even air dry, which normally just gives me a weird hair. Go easy near your roots. It can make hair a slight bit greasy if too much is used or too near roots.

I am kind of iffy on hair serums a lot of the time. Many of them are too thick and I end up with oily clumps of hair. This one is actually different.I am not totally sure of how this is supposed to be used (I got it in a subscription box, I didn't go seeking it out). But what I typically do at night is shampoo and condition my hair, then apply a bit of hair oil at the roots and detangler throughout the length. I let it air dry. Then I would use a dry oil or similar product the next morning. I used this in place of the dry oil. I took two of the tiniest pumps, rubbed them around on my palms, then gently patted/worked this through my hair. I brushed my hair after that.And I tell you, my hair looked really nice after using this. Frizz is down (even at the ends), flyaways are down, but my hair still seems lightweight and flowing (and there are no clumps). There is also some nice shine. I did not find this too sticky and even though it looks thick, when I rubbed it between my palms, it warmed up (it contains some natural oils so this is not surprising) and was easy to distribute. I did not notice much of a scent, maybe a little. It is clear in color and not watery.For reference, I have waist-length color-treated hair (I dye it black, so I really like the shine this product provides). It is Caucasian textured and kind of halfway between wavy and straight. I can't speak for all hair types, but this works really well with mine. It is very easy to get just the amount you want out of the container, so little is wasted. This is also vegan and free of parabens, phthalates, glycols, and artificial fragrances and dyes, if any of those are important to you.
