Lightweight long needle nose
I bought pliers for using with fluke fishing should one need to get a deeper hook out. If you have larger lures and bigger fish I could see some sideways flex happening but I've yet to have that twisting happen. The pliers are a flat stainless metal with a screwed together hinge its not like other cast metal pliers with a thick hinge that would resist twisting more. These are very light weight thinner profile and long to get into a smaller throat. These work for my needs...low cost and thin/long. I also don't expect the hinge to rust like other heavier pliers do. I don't oil my fishing pliers too often so these are great for how I abuse things.

Best I've used
I have had many different types of forceps and these are by far my favorite. I do many different types of fishing, including lake, stream and ice. These are my favorite for ice fishing, since they are easy to use with gloves on and are still slim enough to fit in a fishes mouth to get the hook out. The sheath it comes with feels cheap, but so far I haven't had any issues with it.

Nose of pliers twists easily
If you are dealing with a heavy duty hook or fish with tough mouth the nose of the pliers will twist easily. Probably fine for blue gil or crappie, Walleye or Pike not so much.

does the job nicely
I have had to use these at least once every fishing session. Either the fish was double hooked in the mouth or double hooked deep inside. These do great at reaching in and twisting out. I am iffy on the safety latch but I do use it. Great tool

Read the description of the item.
Nice set of plyers, but the picture is "very" misleading. They look like this big set if long players, when in fact they will fit in the palm of your hand. I should have read the description a lot closer.

Great for general purpose use
These pliers are great for general use. I wanted a pair of pliers for user outdoors that I did not have to worry about rusting. These good for all damp uses (camping, boating, outdoors).Comfortable to use and easy to find because of the red on the handle. I like the lanyard for hanging them on a hook. I keep mine in the garage for quick use.
