Perfect experiment, I thought. The green ones still glowed very brightly and although not bright were still visible 12 hours later. These things are really amazing. **Q: what color is best** A: Depends on your use... for brightness, without a doubt green. 2 reasons to get technical, first the chemical make up allows that color to glow brightest, and second is that the human eye sees this color better than any other light wavelength. If you're looking for "flares" though and need red, your best bet would be a strobe light. The red snap lights are good for low-light needs (hence using red lens flashlights in the military to read maps as the human eye doesn't pick this light up at low levels), but nowhere near what you would need for safety. Blues and whites are in the middle but don't nearly as long -better off with a LED flashlight. Go green... **Q: Can they be stored in freezing temps in a car? Gets Brutal in NY in the winter** A: they can be stored in the car and they will not freeze **Q: Will these give enough light to read if you need to find emergency phone numbers in phone book?** A: I was in a pitch black room door closed and no windows when I tried it out and I was able to find my locker and see the combination numbers on my lock. I thought it was pretty good. I'm sure you'd be able to see some emergency numbers in your phone book with this product. Hope this helped. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No issues *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 9 February 2023* Pack of 10 ordered via Contact Left Limited, delivered two days later. Genuine Cyalume products with a 4+ year use-by date (it is Feb 23 now and the use -by date is 06/27).Tested one: It took some force to snap the internal capsule, which is a good protection against accidental activation. Good red light visible from afar as a marker. Illuminates an area of about one meter. When held close to a page it is sufficient to read with. Started to fade after 13 hours. In my opinion, if you need one for a first aid kit, find a white one - there are high intensity 30 minute versions for such uses. If you need a general light, the red are best and do not affect your night vision quite so much.I only ever use Cyalume after I found that the cheaper products occasionally simply did not work when I needed them ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Impressive *by on Reviewed in Canada 11 December 2017* I know it says these are not toys, but I have a couple to my kids to play with on a camp out this summer. They lasted well over 12 hours - in fact you could still see some light the next evening as dusk set in.They would be very useful in many emergency situations as well - they are extremely bright and after activation (which is very easy) they get bright very quickly. We got the red version and Ia very impressed with the quality. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ très bien *by on Reviewed in France 4 October 2019* très bien pour signalisation d'urgence. durée environ 10 h + 4 h après les avoir agiter. température d'emploie environ 23° . peut être moins long pat t° + basse ## Frequently Bought Together - Cyalume - 9-08002 SnapLight Red Light Sticks – 6 Inch Industrial Grade, Ultra Bright Glow Sticks with 12 Hour Duration (Pack of 10) - Cyalume Glow Sticks Military Grade Lightstick - Premium Green 6” SnapLight Emergency Chemical Light Stick with 12 Hour Duration , 10 Pack - Cyalume Glow Sticks Military Grade Lightstick - Premium Blue 6” SnapLight Emergency Chemical Light Stick with 8 Hour Duration (Bulk Pack of 10 Chem Lights) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/228923209-cyalume-snaplight-red-glow-sticks-6-inch-industrial-grade-ultra](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/228923209-cyalume-snaplight-red-glow-sticks-6-inch-industrial-grade-ultra) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-23*
