SuperEar SE5000 - Hearing Amplifier, Personal Headphones, Audio Accessories

Gave it a 5 star because it worked as designed. I returned it though, to order their other model SE7500 instead, read on for the reason why. Got it for my father who is 90, at least 50% hearing loss, have to talk very loud to him all the time, to the point my voice will get gravely. Plus, his doctor asked me to get him something for his hearing, because everyone have to talk so loud, that it bothers the other doctors and patients. The first time he put it on, he had this surprise look, I was able to talk in my normal volume, and he was able to hear clearly. When he talks, he said it was was a bit loud, but that could be due to him being hard of hearing and talking too loud, which he will just have to adjust to. I was going to just keep it with me and use it on days when he visits his doctor, she that he does not misplace it, but he said he wants to use it when watching TV, so will leave it with him. I did not notice the specs on Amazon's page, regarding battery life, do not think it's stated, until I got the item, then checked the manufacturer's site, it takes 1 AAA, and will provide up to 20 hours of use, no auto shut off. He tends for forget things, will most likely just leave it on, even when he's not using it. So, I returned this one, and ordered their other model SE7500, not that much more money, but takes 2 AAA, provides up to 80 hours of use, with auto shut off every 45 minutes to save battery, to turn it back on, just press a button once, that's perfect for someone like him that is forgetful.

Unlike the $7,000 price tag associated with the previous useless hearing aids my mother attempted to use, the SuperEar costs only $65! If I hadn’t seen such an inexpensive piece of equipment work so well for her in the hospital, I never would have expected it would be so effective. Incredibly, however, it is, and you certainly cannot beat the low, low price. In addition to its affordability, another significant advantage is its ease of use. It comes with two very basic pieces that you just hook together.One piece is a pair of lightweight headphones. The other piece is a small plastic amplifier. You simply plug the headphones into the amplifier, turn it on, and speak into the amplifier. Even better, no charging is required! My mother is not tech savvy, so charging would be a chore for her. Instead, with the SuperEar, you simply pop in a AAA battery. You’re set for 30 hours of sound. So easy! A final reason why the SuperEar is the very best thing I have purchased in 2024 is because it is effective. Hearing aids just never seemed to work for her. She even tested out a new “high tech” hearing aid only to return it because it just didn’t allow her to hear much of anything at all. The SuperEar, however, is very different. In fact, like the description of it on Amazon says, SuperEar “is like reading glasses for your eyes.” It’s powerful, and my mother can now converse with us easily. We can speak at a normal level into the microphone amplifier, and she actually hears us ! She is so thrilled to be able to have a normal conversation again, and she is able to use it when speaking with doctors, storekeepers, and other family members too. My mother feels connected to us again, and that is invaluable. I have purchased many products in 2024, but the SuperEar truly stands out as the most useful and worthwhile investment. Its low price, user friendliness, and remarkable effectiveness make it an essential tool for anyone experiencing hearing difficulties. I highly recommend exploring the SuperEar for yourself or a loved one – it could transform communication and enhance the quality of life.

I purchased the SuperEar SE5000 for my elderly parent who needed a little extra help hearing conversations and TV audio. Overall, it’s a solid personal sound amplifier that does what it promises. This is a game changer. My father has hearing aids, expensive hearing aids and this thing works better than they do. I purchased this so he could use it in the hospital to communicate with doctors and nurses. It truly has been a lifesaver. I even posted it on Facebook as a recommendation, because I'm amazed at how great it is. The size is great. The volume is adjustable which is great .It comes with two different headsets, one in ear and one over ear. It is sturdy and easily transportable. It runs on battery power and they last a long time . Very sturdy and well constructed .I highly recommend this.

This product is great! I am not a "senior," but have been having some hearing difficulties for a few months due to some ear infections/eardrum issues. Conversations were getting to be more and more difficult and meetings at work were near impossible because everything was so muffled. I was getting frustrated having to ask people to speak up or repeat things - or missing what was said entirely. We had a staff meeting the day after these arrived and I was able to hear everyone clearly and participate fully. I am very pleased!

My 95 yr old mom is virtually deaf. She tried the really expensive in your ear hearing aids, hated them, refused to use them. Then tried an over the ear amplifier. While it worked, she did not like wearing it. So we got her headphones for the TV, and she loved it! I bought her this, hoping we could get her to wear it when she has visitors. I tested it out first. I noticed it was picking up and amplifying sounds that were irritating, so I stuffed some sponge into the microphone tube, put scotch tape over it, and that helped to eliminate the irritating higher end sounds, allowing voices to still come thru clearly. Then I noticed that every time you touched the little sound box, no matter how carefully, you heard very amplified irritating noise. So I put silicone all around the body. This reduced the amount of sound transference. It works. I use a large safety pin on her clothing and hang the box onto that (the clip is difficult to use on clothing) not great, but it works. I might buy another, larger set of headphones.

I wanted to circle back around and review this product - this review is a bit personal because nothing else helped us. We were desperate. Take the chance if that is you. This saved the day for us. An elderly family member of mine pretty much lost their hearing due to aging. The only thing that helped them were Costco hearing aids. Those were destroyed by the family pet and we couldn't get exact replacements anymore. They went to Costco and got a newer version but it didn't help. This family member fell ill and without being able to communicate we feel like that made their situation worse. I read another review where they were in the same exact boat as us and took the chance after reading it. Glad I listened. This product comes with headphones and a single AAA battery. I feel like the headphones that come with it are cheap so we ordered over the ear noise cancelling headphones. Don't let that change your mind about the actual item itself. I put the headphones over their ears and talked into the microphone and couldn't believe it. The item which reminded me of an "As seen on TV" product turned out to be better than super expensive Costco hearing aids and saved the day. Their face literally lit up and could hear me loud and clear. This is no exaggeration. I then had to hear "Where was this product a few weeks ago?!?!" If someone you love is in assisted living this can be your new best friend. The AAA batteries last about 3 days if you buy the good batteries. Keep in mind that little battery powers the device and those monster headphones in my picture. Trust me on this one. He couldn't hear anything. We used double sided tape and taped it below the TV and when we needed to talk to him just talked in the direction of the item. Used a cable extender.

Well that was interesting. I bought this second one almost 8 years after the first one. Which is still working perfectly. It lasted a week and cost double what I paid for the first. Not even a little amused. Salvaged the battery cover to replace the one I lost off the old one and the head phones and belt loop clip . Which btw was missing the screw. Works nice as chip bag clip.

I changed 3 hearing aids costing about Rs 50-60 for a pair, in last 5 years but always found myself visiting audiologist for limitation in hearing. the most disgusting was in spite of repeated audiograms changing frequency and settings by two to three audiologist my hearing never got satisfied. I could not enjoy conversations. Therefore I searched net myself for any better alternative uptil many months being a doctor myself. I found this amplifier and thought why not to try one. So i got it. It was surprising that since its use my hearing improved much more. I could hear clearly. Two of my relations when tried my this product also asked me to place an order for them. It is not very expensive simple amplifier which works uptil 50 db enhancement with volume change which also changes frequency of sound. I have sensineuronal hearing loss. I am better than before in hearing. Its microphone has to be directed by hand towards the direction from where sound is coming for more clear hearing. It requires one AAA battery.

My husband's hearing aid was lost in hospital, replacement came but needed to be recalibrated and cannot get in for 10 days. Brought this as a try out, interim measure as he cannot hear me or the TV. What a difference it made. God send. TV volume down from 34 to 20. What a relief. He can hear me too without me shouting. It works!

Bought this for my 81yr old mum who has very poor hearing , won’t use hearing aids and is skeptical of ‘gadgets’. She has become even more lost during conversations because her eyesight is now failing so she can’t get by with reading lips. This was so simple to set up and as soon as she put on the headphones and turned the volume up , her face lit up. She could finally hear me talking at normal volume , without shouting , repeating myself and becoming frustrated 🥰. She even got me to stand further and further back as an experiment and lo and behold , she heard me speaking softly from a distance. One very delighted mum and daughter and I left her with her new SuperEar clipped to her waistband. Best £60 I’ve spent in a long time. Very happy with purchase
